Very slow progress-weight

who cares nobody can dispute that she looks great though. people just envy that form although i wouldnt make her to be some kind of example for all people but just a good looking girl.
so you want to look athletic? like the beach body girl or less pronounced and more curvy or do you want to be even more athletic than her?

A good week after all. 234.6 ie down 1.6. Twice weight has gone up to settle down the next day. Now lost 5lbs since starting.

Weight has scarcely gone down since the dramatic increase from Tuesday to Wednesday. 236.2 instead of 236.4 yesterday. Is this more than just a blip? If so can’t explain where the extra lbs have come from. So far this week 234.6 -233.6- 236.4 -236.2 . The known constant factor last 2 days has been poor sleep .

If it was the salt demon at work surely it would have come down more? Feeling very discouraged as currently standing at 3.4 lbs lost in 5.5 weeks which is reminiscent of my previous aborted attempt(I couldn’t face an over 3 year slog to get to target weight).
Going to fast today(don’t worry I’ll eat but just very little) hope for a good night’s sleep and see what happens. If nothing much changes then I’ll be tempted to admit defeat.

yeah sleep is also very important in losing weight ive heard. the longer you sleep the better your metabolism is. 9 hours a day is perfect.

So just how many calories are you consuming and what do they consist of? What do you drink, how much water per day?

I am not calorie counting just trying to eat less. What I do know is that I need around 2600- 2700 calories to maintain weight. I drink mainly low calorie squash and those sachets of flavoured coffee but also Turkish apple or lemon tea, ground and cafetiere coffee, and the occasional glass of pop. I drink 3-4 glasses of just water a day. As for what the food calories consist of(this week) a fair amount of rice and noodles, vegetarian products, a little meat, cuppa soups, no cakes or sweets. What I have eaten doesn’t explain the weight increase Tuesday to Wednesday.

What I do know is that I didn’t have 12,400-12,500 calories on Tuesday to account for the 2.8 lbs increase the next day. That would be 6-8 days calories in one day.
I am hoping it’s a combination of fluid retention and several nights poor sleep.

If your diet leaves you hungry, you’re doing something wrong…weigh no more than 1 time a week…eat less chocolate, meat, and stuff…don’t add sugar to your coffee…get active whenever you can…write down what you eat…eat with family and friends at the table…and a favorite of mine, eat with gusto

That seems like an awful lot of calories. Have you entered your measurements into a calculator like the one on calorieking.com?

If you mean to maintain current weight then I did check several sites. This one said to maintain weight for my height/weight/age/exercise level I should have 2721 calories approximately… The calculators seems to vary quite a lot in their estimates but I would think a calculator from http://www.cancer.org/healthy/toolsandcalculators/calculators/app/calorie-counter-calculator would be fairly accurate.

If you mean the amount to put on that weight then I calculated by 2700 +3,500 x 2.8 (Roughly 3500 calories being needed to gain a lb) .

Hello! I had trouble with my weight for a long time cause of the anti-psycotics I was on!i was diagnosed 3 years ago!it got t a point where I didn’t even want to go outside cause I was afraid people would be looking at me cause of my weight problem! I decided to take action 3 months ago!i started a protein, vegetables n fruit diet!I cut carbohydrates out of my diet n stopped drinking all sorts of refined drinks,i took fruits instead. i’m now half the size I was 3months ago!people all around me were surprised at the amount of weight I lost!I said I didn’t even do exercise. I think u should try dieting

Firemonkey, Turkish apple tea is almost pure sugar. If you cut back on that it might help. (I never drink it because I have diabetes. It sends my blood sugar soaring.)

@Hatty You are right but I only have a cup of it every 1-2 days as it’s rather expensive.

are you still taking antipsychotics?

Yes I’m still taking antipsycotics (Abilify) but it causes less weight gain compared to others like risperidone or olanzepine!i was on risperidone my first year after diagnosis then I was put on olanzepine! But now I’m on Abilify! Honestly dieting helps! You may not see the effects instantly but you will see a difference after 3-4 weeks! I use to laugh when I hear all these models or actors say they are off carbs(carbohydrates) but it really helps!when you eat an excess of carbohydrates, your body uses the amount it needs for energy and other metabolic processes! The excess is converted to glycogen n stored in organs like the liver while some is channelled to the lipid pathway n converter to fat which is also stored in the body

I started a diet on Monday, so today is day 5. I’m not using scales because I find they can dishearten me if they gain. I’m going to just use clothing as a guide to whether I’m bigger or smaller. I’m on 15mg Olanzapine daily so it’s going to be a long slow journey.

how much weight did you lose during those 3 months of dieting?

My pattern when trying to lose weight is to cut back a bit on what I eat and increase my output of calories by walking for at least an hour a day (round and round the local park usually). However, over the years, I have still slowly gained weight and my fat to muscle ratio has got worse. Lately I have been reading about this issue, and apparently while that kind of gentle exercise does burn fat fast, it also causes some muscle atrophy. So when you leave off the exercise for a couple of weeks you immediately pile weight back on. But only fat, not muscle. I see that this is exactly what I have been doing for 10 years. I have gone from 18% fat, to 34%! Terrible for me. So I have added weight work into my schedule. I am only doing body weight exercises at the moment (though I am starting to add weights to them as they get easier). But I can see quite quick progress. One day I might be an (elderly) female @Mortimermouse! (I hope! But I won’t be posting any bikini photos, don’t worry!)
