Did you exercise today

The beginning is usually the hardest time for newcomers of routine exercises. Usually people quit after the 2nd week or so but there are those such as myself that have been exercising since their early 20s. As a beginner, I wouldn’t spend more than an hour at a gym. I also wouldn’t try to push myself too hard at the start because it could lead to injury. I have found that a gradual increase of weight & repetition over the weeks is the best way to go.

Doing aerobic exercises such as running, jogging, cycling, stepping, elliptical and rowing increases the heart rate above a certain threshold depending on a person’s age. Usually I start sweating after doing 10 minutes of cardio vascular exercise and my cardio exercise is quite intensive. I gradually increase my heart rate to 150bpm and maintain it there for 30 minutes. I sweat off about 1-2 pounds of water (sweat).

Sweating out water is one thing, burning 3500 calories which equates to 1 pound of fat is another.

You burn 3500 calories in one sitting?

one thing i have learned is you got to keep hydrated, i take a bottle with me and there is a refil tap in the gym area, idk about eating though, i’ve went both times on an empty stomach

I cannot burn 3500 calories during 1 cardio exercise session. You misunderstand me. The human body burns calories all day long and we consume calories every time we eat. If you burn more calories than you intake, there is a deficit of calories resulting in burned fat cells.

Rest can have it’s place.

So what your saying is you burn 3500 calories a day at rest?

Yes, being hydrated is an important factor doing cardio. As you do more aerobic exercises, you will drink more liquids throughout the day to replenish the loss of water. However, I suggest you eat some carbohydrates such as a slice of wheat bread before you do your cardio because the muscles in your body needs energy to function.

The correct term is Basic Metabolic Rate or BMR which is the amount of calories needed to maintain your current weight. The BMR is different for everyone. If you don’t eat all day and your BMR is 3500 then you will burn 1 pound of fat.

I just did a run for 1km and 10 sets of steps. I’m building up to running more and will go again this afternoon.

@anon5716216 thanks for the information, its good to know, i hear that a good calorie tracker is called myfitnesspal.com i think but idk if i would be so hard line with that, i tend to eat less than the daily recommended amount for a guy but i’m not sure.

@anon47167357 i hope we can all get fit to some degree on this thread, everyone is at different stages and even the smallest amount of exercise is good for us.

@pob for sure, we all need rest, well said

Maybe not aerobic walking but I like to stop and smell the roses. Maybe It’s the poet in me. I can find poems that way. Every one supplies his own nourishment.
