Who here was able to withdrawal its Antipsychotics and how have you managed your withdrawal ? In the past my low dose of abilify was 2,5 mg i decreased m’y abilify between 5 mg and 2,5 mg in 4 months but After i would decrease too fastly and i experienced a psychosis, i decreased between 2,5 mg and 1,5 mg in only two weeks it was too fast.
I was not schizophren before but i suffer of hypersensibility dopaminergic when i stop abruptly m’y abilify, i was schizo-affectif before Taken abilify and i experienced hallucinations and delirium during abruptly withdrawal of abilify or during my too fast decreasing.
The minimum dose of Abilify for Schizophrenia is 10mg.
If you’re on less than 10mg you’ll probably get psychotic.

Oh, yeah, that rebound psychosis after stopping meds can be pretty intense. I did it once and will never do it again.

No because i was not schizophren before used abilify but i was dépressed and schizo-affectif, during a long périod between 2015 and 2018 i Taken just 5 mg of Abilify and i was well.
I think Antipsychotics like abilify IS a good treatment to fight dépression and schizo-affectivity but withdrawal IS very hard !.
And i think that if i manage well a réduction of dose of my Abilify it’s not impossible to me to be well with just 2,5 mg or 3 mg…

You should only quit APs with the support of your doctor.

I’ve done it, but I was so out of it that I don’t even know if I had side effects from quitting probably 10 meds cold turkey simultaneously. I can’t answer your question, as a result.

How many Time have you experienced withdrawal symptôms with your cold turkey ?. Have you experienced insomnia ?.
How many Time have you free of your treatment ?.
I want decrease my abilify slowly in 5 months between 5 mg and 2,5 mg and After decrease my abilify of 0,1 mg during a périod of 24 months, my low dose in the past was 2,5 mg but after i decreased too fastly and i experienced a psychosis…

I don’t believe I still need antipsychotic medications, I just take them to sleep and for the government benefits. Even if I got off all medicine I know I have a mental disorder.
Is it possible that you think to be able to be well without Antipsychotics but it’s not sure. Try a tapering of 10 percents by month to be sure, the minimum benefit for you IS eventually to have the minimum effective dose and less side effects.
Yes but cold turkey IS not a good option…reduce Antipsychotics dose of 10 percents per month IS good.
I wish I had never withdrawn from Abilify. I went about it the wrong way. I would not recommend ever stopping the medications if you truly have schizophrenia.

How long did it take till your withdrawal symptoms appear?
I’ve messed up coming off AP’s before. I still want to do that some day, but I want to do it carefully.
