What book/s are you reading at the moment?

The Largesse of the Sea Maiden, by Denis Johnson. Been watching lots of stage plays online too.

I’m just about finished the sci Fi classic Dune. Saw the movie and wanted to refresh my memory of the book so I could match my concerns about the movie. It’s still a good movie worth watching!

And. Dispatches by Michael Herr. The greatest book I’ve ever read on war by a journalist. It covers the Vietnam war and it’s so well written in that kinda Gonzo style. It’s amazing…

So. One fiction. One Non fiction.

I read THE SMITHSONIAN magazine a long time a week or so ago and it was really nice and relaxing. I thought to myself, out of all my activities I like reading the best. But I have not been able to read since. It comes and goes. I did read some of PETER AND MARY, but then some other writer stole me away just to trash me. Maybe PETER PAN will let me come back. I have heard stories of people who read a lot for years and years and then just lose interest. Maybe that’s my case.

Are you sh1tting me? Just watched Nausicaa last week after postponing it for decades. Great story and animation !!

So I set a target to watch other works by Hayao Miyazaki. Last night I watched My Neighbor Totoro. Tonight I’ll be trying out Laputa - Castle in the sky.

Are you into anime by any chance?

The live action movie or the anime series?
I watched the series around 2010. Still getting the chills when I remember it.

Yes, I love anime! And Hayao Miyzaki / Studio Ghibli has made some incredible films.

I definitely recommend Princess Mononoke and Spirited Away.

I also really like Kiki’s Delivery Service.

Unrelated to Studio Ghibli, I recommend Death Note, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood, and The Promised Neverland.

:relaxed:

Okay okay. Will defs give those a try.

Fullmetal Alchemist - I know there are 2 versions, I’ve watched the first one and enjoyed it.
Death Note too. Gave me goose bumps.
Dunno the other ones yet.

I’ve watched “Naruto” and “Bleach” religiously for many years. But they are very long. So if I’m asked about recommendations, I hesitate to mention those 2, even though they’re good.

“Samurai Champloo” and “Cowboy Bebop” are shorter series that most people find quite enjoyable.

I am still reading Dr.who and the pirateplanet. I have to start all over, it’s about 6 months ago I read half through. I just don’t get the peace or mood to read. I got to take it, I guess, putting my foot down.
