I was thinking long and hard about this last niht, and now there has been a turnover of members, maybe theye will not be fighting, or maybe less fighting. I am sure people will volunteer to moderate, and it will be just like old times. Chat really was a lot of help to me when I needed someone else to talk to and not only that, it also helps us to get to know each other better. Sour maybe administration will consider it. What do others think?

I think it would be a great idea, as long as there were someone to moderate and keep out the troublemakers.

ive never understood why there isnāt a chat room im sure many of us would volunteer to be modertors
it has to be better than the village we could only have it open at certain times to avoid the idiots taking over haha

Legal liability. Chat rooms are chaotic and difficult to moderate. If something happens in one that prompts a visitor to self-harm or commit suicide, the people behind this site could be the ones on the pointy end of a lawyer as a result. Too great a legal and financial risk.

There used to be a chat room. It was a total pain in the ass for everyone involved. Eventually some of the more troublesome members, like me, caused them to shut it down.

wish there was some way we could control a live chat so that no one gets hurt and people can talk freely without being persecuted,
what about a live chat where you can flag people if they cause trouble or a help button if anyone is in distress, separate rooms for private chats etc, what about members signing a contract so that this site isnāt liable for anything,
there must be some way we can make it work without it causing trouble, isnāt there?

You can start your own chat room. Itās pretty easy. Just go to pretty much any network and register a channel.
A chat room would be chaotic - I for one donāt care for the idea so much

i couldnāt do that malvok i would ask to be a mod if they needed one though but it would have to be the proper software, i wish the discourse forum could discuss chatrooms for this forum.

I have never understood the antipathy towards her. Then I am someone who whilst having a schizophrenia/schizoaffective dx was with a woman nearly 22 years older than myself. It is possible for an older woman to be with a younger man without being a ācougarā . Cougar to me implies a predator going through a string of young lovers.
I wonder if there would have been as much antipathy if it had been a case of an older man with a young schizophrenic girl.
What it does show though is that people with schizophrenia can have prejudices just like those without it.

I agree, thatās why we have nine ops in our chatroom right now and a facility for them to share notes with each other. It is still possible in spite of the chaos to try our best to provide a safe space to chat. I remember when the schizophrenia.com forums used to be broken frequently. But behold, you overcame that technical challenge with new software and you can provide forums again. Likewise I believe the world of irc chat has matured over the years and there are more powerful tools for moderators now.
We could all go to a chat room and put an S in front of our names to signify where weāre from, but others would get involved. Iām not coming up with any good ideas.
