It’s one of the top ten most disabling disease in the world.

Schizophrenia is one of the most debilitating illnesses on the planet.
Although we are actually the more fortunate Schizophrenics.
Some Schizophrenics cannot communicate effectively.
They are prisoners of their own mind.

I don’t know about that, plenty of horrible diseases out there. Ever hear of butterfly children? Their disease causes their skin to peel off at the slightest contact, even just from clothes. They live every day in excruciating pain, their entire body covered in open wounds and sores from their skin being ripped away, which they then have to bandage and rebandage these wounds every few hours to prevent infection but this also causes extraordinary pain as it rips the skin more and reopens injuries. There is no cure, no medication no way to manage it.
It pains me greatly to think a person, especially a young child should be doomed to a lifetime of terrible pain. They are basically bedridden and don’t get a life because everything causes their skin to rip off.
Anyhow, I don’t try to make a competition out of suffering.

I looked it up and there was a website that considered it number 1 of top ten worst psychiatric diseases.

I can believe that. It’s just that part of me doesn’t want to hear I have one of the worst diseases.
Str8 badass. The really severe cerebral palsy seems pretty bad, but at least they live short lives. What hellen keller had reminds me of my life.

Tell me about it most definitely prisoners of their own mind, its sad really. I feel as if there is no going forward only staying stuck or moving backwards in life, not being able to function as a person without this disease would.

The worst disease, for me, is Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS). I think it’s the worst disease because you slowly lose function of your muscles until you asphyxiate.

I think they found a cure for als/mnd. Search online.
I checked, and there is no cure for ALS. However, there is a drug that slows the progression.

I have sz and it’s messed up my life a lot but I don’t think it’s the worst disease out there. Cancer is worse and blindness and Aids… I think at least I can see… and walk…and eat. And I’m not terminally ill.
Count your blessings whatever they are. There are always people who are worse off than you.

I actually know a butterfly child - it’s pretty bad. I participate in a charity that arranges toys for those kids, and their siblings (I order one of the toys they want off Amazon each Christmas, it’s easy).
ALS is bad… might be some major breakthroughs close though.
Cerebral palsy is highly variable depending on the part of the brain affected.
Locked in syndrome also is pretty f’ed up.
