I don’t get it,
I don’t like it,
And I think it’s unfair.
What is the criteria for loan cancellation?
I don’t know, but those people did know how a loan works before they signed up.
They should pay.
It’s a good thing.
This will help lots of people and boost the economy.
Backing you up @Charles_Foster
Yes covid did a number on people in general but if the students received instruction and they took their exams then they should pay.
I could understand if teachers, social workers, and some folks in the healthcare field had a partial loan forgiveness but students who major in history or philosophy or whatever lie they bought to pursue higher education should have to repay.
Imfuo.

I had loans forgiven for disability but I respect all thoughts and I understand. Heart
Its “up to 10,000 loan forgiveness without PELL grant” and up to 20,000 if you received said grant.
Doesnt say anything more or a full loan forgiveness
The real problem is the educational system.
Deans are basically corporate CEOs of Colleges.
Berkeley used to be Free. All UC colleges were free.
Reagan was governor California and destroyed free education.
Thanks. I just filled it out it was easy.
I think the whole thing is fundamentally unfair.
If they’re giving money over to students, who damn well know what a loan is,
They should give 10-20K to everyone.
I got other loans I need paid off.
Well it depends a bit. What if the 18 year old kid got roped into loans at some bogus college for some worthless degree. That person probably could use the help. Young grads get hustled by some of those private colleges.
The engineer who racked 50k in loans and now has a good job? 100% pay the loan.
It’s about time.
My best friend got a degree in “outdoor education”.
It was worthless.
She worked as a councilor at a wilderness camp briefly, but it didn’t work out.
She went back to school and now she’s a doctor.
Maybe a quarter million dollars in student debt.
I feel for her because she’d drowning in it, even being a freaking doctor, she can’t afford some real basic things.
She can’t get a mortgage or car loan.
Anyway,
I’m saying this to say,
She did it to herself.
I get it, you sign those papers thinking you’ll be on the other side of your education with a ton of money and that’s not always the case,
But it’s still your mistake.
And you have to pay back your loans.
Regardless of how the money you borrowed worked out for you.
Oiiiii someone needed to give that woman some guidance, thats a difficult hole to get out of. This 20k loan forgiveness would barely touch that lol
Who cares. This is helping “millions” of poor Americans.
Let’s be happy for them.
I know lots of poor Americans that need that money more.
These people promised to pay back the loans,
They should.
College these days isn’t what it used to be. It’s like 4 extra years of high school. It’s expected to work anywhere. No one should have to pay for that.
They hustled me well. Had to repay every cent. If I lost my diploma now I would have no way to get a replacement.
This whole situation is one giant eye roll.
Only kids now would be like,
“You know what? The government should pay my loans and I’m going to protest until they do”.
My parents put themselves through school,
Then put my sister and I through school.
Where’s their money?
No - so the government can bail out corporations is cool.
But - bailing out people is a bad thing.
I didn’t say that.
This particular program is irritating to me.
