Well - a lot of people get irritated about people being on disability too.
This has nothing to do with disability.
Both are policies helping people
hmmm let me seeā¦i get no money back on my SL that was paid off.? or the sheep skin it was printed on. hmmm
No.
Theyāre not close to the same and I wonāt let you rope me in with that type.
I know what youāre doing.
I put myself through school and am not getting a cent back, but Iām still happy for those who are now.
Your words are strong and I heard them.

@Mars Same. I paid off my worthless student loan. Iām not complaining either.
Donāt understand why helping lots of people is a problem.
Colleges and universities are 100% businesses that happen to provide education, and have ultimately created a demand vacuum by stating that degrees are an absolute necessity in order to earn a livable wage and succeed in life.
They inflate the value of degrees in order to make moneyā end of.
And yes, legit kids took out education loans with the government with the understanding they would pay back the money.
Sadly, they do not teach courses on financial literacy in many public schools, so a lot of these teens didnāt know how interest workedā all they knew was theyād be able to pay the loan off once they got a degree, because degrees get you money, or so they were made to believe.
Used to be that a Bachelors degree would open up employment options for folks, and was a sure-fire way to have the extra edge in earning higher wages.
Over the last 15-20 years or so, college grads have had to compete in a job market over-saturated with other degree holders, because a college degree was the end-all-be-all in order to earn a decent living.
ā¦No one cares about Bachelors degrees anymore, because everyone and their mother has one.
Not to mention that colleges and universities fail to mention the actual monetary value of said degreesā like, why is my alma mater charging 62K for tuition these days? What are people actually paying for?
What is the actual valuation of a college degree?
I dunno, but it sounds like people are being charged exorbitantly for something touted as the way to financial freedom, when in reality itās not even netting them enough income to survive.
ā¦That might as well be considered False Advertising.
I agree the degrees are basically worthless and expensive,
But these students knew what they were getting into when they signed up.
I think they should pay.
College is mostly a farce these days.
I speak of no one else but if I ever went back to school I would pursue a trade.
Well said tunaā¦you seem educated. It was worth every penny
Haha, dunno about that so much @ablue, but thank you .
Thatās our Tuna!
Kicken that old school hip-hop philosophy.
Preach!
I will benefit greatly from this loan forgiveness and I have to say I donāt really agree with it. It could go to help with rehab and the homeless and people who need help at a level so desperate that itās hard for me to comprehend. Iām pretty desperate though, and if it wasnāt for other people helping me out Iād be homeless right now while I try to get things on track. Iād just rather see people who are stuck on the streets or in tent cities in pretty much every major US city get help they need. Itās never been a topic during any election cycle, because no one gives a damn.
I guess Iām a hypocrite for accepting the loan forgiveness, but mama didnāt raise no fool. Iād rather be a hypocrite then as desperate as I am now.
I would go deeper into my thoughts as to what we spend money on and where, but the thread will get locked and I donāt want a ban for discussing politics. With all of this being said, I may have a little bit of disrupted sleep, but Iāll nod off eventually.
I have a feeling it wonāt even go through, so the point is moot.
Education should be affordable for everybody anyways.
It should be free. Its backwards
Mic check 1-2-1-2, yeeeeeeee boiiiii
.
Haha!
You know what old Neil said. Keep on rocking in the free world, maāam.
He also said⦠āThis old world keeps spinning round, its a wonder tall trees aint laying down.ā
