State of the forum

It really seems that the forum is growing more and more anti-medication, anti-psychiatry, and pro-supernatural. This is both depressing and disappointing. It is at a point where I don’t even feel like posting anything pro-treatment because people will just argue.

Maybe there needs to be a renewed statement of the focus of this site? Is it going to be one of evidence based, scientifically supported treatment? Or is it an open free for all where all ludicrous beliefs are welcomed and entertained?

I agree. There is the wrong vibe going around. I just took my nighttime meds like a good boy and I do things dis how u do it. Look how I doing heh heh heh dis how you do it heh heh heh.

I’ve also noticed it’s been pretty bland and boring. But that’s just my opinion. You get so used to reading the same general stuff that pops up on here over and over again.

You make a good point. People should always seek professional help and mainstream scientific treatments.

We also do our best to pull people back into the real world.

I can’t blame people personally though, my symptoms make me delusional as hell. There aren’t many places to vent about it. In most cases though no one agrees on the specifics and at that point it should all fall apart.

Ultimately the members of the board will do what they want. No one really looks at the rules. The site can only be restructured to accommodate for everyone. Then the mods have the job of keeping it all sorted out.

At least we have a place to go. Not all of us are as far along in our recovery as you.

That Daimon guy seems to be the king of the ani-medication vibe going on here. He should seriously be banned. All he does is preach on how medication isn’t necessary and it has really offended me. I don’t even think the guy is schizophrenic. He is, however, a crackpot and a troll.

i think it’s mainly a handful of prolific posters that favor quantity over quality in their posting flooding the forum. Maybe a daily posting limit might help.

This could be relaxed after a few months. People might be create alters to Get around this but it wouldn’t surprise me if some sock puppeting isn’t already going on.

You are mistaken. I have actively made no agenda to tell people not to take the medication prescribed to them for schizophrenia. I personally think what this forum is missing is pansdisease - what happened to him? Oh well.

You guys are acting like control freaks. Sure there are a lot of threads about the supernatural, but they’re under the delusion/strange beliefs category. If you want to make a thread about treatments, make it in the recovery or medications section. It is that simple. Stop reading the threads under the delusion/strange belief section if you don’t want to read what may be perceived as delusional. But it is a catch 22 for it to be required for the poster in the delusional section to fully consider it a delusion, now isn’t it? I personally think there should be a philosophy and debate section, but perhaps that is what “meta” is.

There is no section of this forum that is free from such posts.

I’d be happy if delusional threads were sent to the Unusual Beliefs section and all delusional posts that taint other threads were just outright deleted.

I think what you’re asking for is an atheist/secular beliefs section. Good luck banning God from the forum, atheists!

I second the motion. Good idea Daimon.

There are many religious people who are not anti-psychiatry or anti-medication and who do believe that this is a medical illness. This isn’t about religion.

Then I guess you would have to ban people for having delusions.

We should have a godless section! Religion gives me the creeps.

Really though who gives ■■■■ ignore what you don’t want to read. Learn who posts what and skip over them. Your not gonna like everything on here.

I suggested that anythreads pertaining to spirituality or religion should have capital R befor the title so those that would be offended wont enter I don’t see whats wrong with that.

The mistake in this reasoning is that only religious people have delusions.; What about the targeted individuals, the ones who believe they are being controlled by psychotronic technology? Atheists can have strange beliefs about this too, which is why there is a strange belief section and not just a theism section.

Thats exactly what it looks like they want to do.

Another dude made a thread that made it sound like people talking about anything that isn’t straight mundane and scientific were FORCING him to believe schizophrenia is spiritual.

Im not even a church going or bible reading Christian but this stuff sounds dark.

I mean people that catch on in the beginning of the post can’t JUST STOP READING?

Wow man wow that Is something else.

I still think this is the greatest forum I have found on Schizophrenia. It is very open and gives total freedom as a person can have. I am thankful to those that got it started and keep it going.
