Facebook is not a positive thing in my life.
In my Humble Opinion People with SZ should NOT be on any form of Social Media, as it causes Dopamine levels to rise when you get a like/retweet or are constantly thinking about it, causing Social Media Addiction.Which is obvisouly not GOOD for people like us!
■■■■■■■■ Article Obvious he works for Tech Company,Social Media is Bad give me the good old days when people had actual REAL friends and spoke in person face to face!
Yea mate i agree !!
Check out a guy called Jaron Lanier turned own his paymasters and exposed the EVIL of Social Media!
I meant turned on !
It provides hits of dopamine, which could put it in the class of addiction, which in turn you could classify as a disease. When the service is free, you are the product. Saw a video of a guy who spoke to the Cambridge Analytica folks. The person he spoke to said they could provide the porn preferences of every conservative Christian who watches porn if requested. The web knows you better than you do. All the information they ask: What’s your favorite color, etc. Where have you seen that question before? Security questions for online banking, etc when setting up an account. Don’t use social media. Life existed fine before it, and can/will exist fine without it.
I made a thread, looking for tips on how to get better.
I heard There is a “gamming addiction” as well. How is that diagnosed? I think its officially announced as a mental illness as well. I wonder what “pro gamers” would think bout that. Some Games require a lot of time and attention to compete at high lvl’s. Why didn’t they announce these things a bit earlier?
It doesn’t have to be a disease. It’s just not enjoyable at all, it’s fake and detached from reality. No thanks. Anonymous posting on this forum is about all I can handle.
Tips? First, let me just say that all I can speak to is FB, because I’ve never used Twitter or any of the other platforms, so I don’t know the specific process.
First, manually delete ALL INFO YOU CAN from it. Posts, personal info, everything. As you’re doing this, either outright delete or download any photos you want to keep (right-click, save image as…). This may take quite a long time depending on how long you’ve been on there, and how much stuff you’ve put out there and done. Forewarned is forearmed. As you’re finishing, change your profile picture to something not you (a tree, fish, whatever). Finally go into your settings and delete your profile. It’ll ask for your password once and confirmation several times. It will then be placed in limbo for 30 days where if you want to reactivate it, you just need to log back in. DON’T DO IT. Give it 30 days. Some stuff will never be deleted. No matter how much they say it has. As they say, “The internet remembers.” And FB is in the business of knowing things about you.
Hope that was of some help.
Why should we do this?
If one is deleting Facebook, why would you leave the identifying information of your face on there and delete the rest?
You can also request search engines do remove posts/data/images from the Web i did this when waiting for Facebook+ Twitter to permantley delete my accounts
Personally I can’t understand the level of negativity about the likes of Facebook and Twitter etc. That is not to say either are perfect. I have had very few problems with them .
@firemonkey Iam sorry but it is pretty obvious to me that most people with SZ do not want any part of Social Media at all! So couldn’t disagree more with your statement tbh.And as far as iam concerned this forum is no way a form of Social Media and the only true place we can be ourselves online.
How do you do that?
You have to search you name first on seach engines, then right click page/image copy code and login to Google/Yahoo/Bing.You then type in codes individually and request to please remove content due to privacy concerns.Their are more than happy to do this as longer as your name has not appeared in news articles, as they cannot remove that content.Hope this helps!
I have no problem with FB. I have a small group of friends and don’t accept just anyone. In fact, if it wasn’t for social media Is have no socializing. My friends have helped me out a lot and have been there for me during rough times. It’s all in curating who you allow access to your life.
