Recently I started getting painful Parkinson’s symptoms from my haldol so im coming off of it and it blows. Pretty much every atypical antipsychotic I’ve tried hasn’t worked. Geodon messes with your heart and I’m tachycardic.Due to insurance reasons the only one I have left is clozaril that I haven’t tried. I have tried Seroquel in the past and it made me gain a lot of weight and zyprexa and latuda were nightmares. Risperdal didn’t control my hallucinations and I also hated abilify. Can anyone recommend their favorite atypical and whether they like clozaril?
I hate abilify too but it’s the best of the worst for me so I’ve made it work. I’m on 15mg.
What did you not like about abilify or how are you coping with it?
@wanderingunicorn have you tried vraylar or rexulti? They’re new
Also, what about saphris?
My insurance doesn’t allow me much room. I can take all the typicals, which obviously I couldn’t tolerate. I can do the invega shot but only if I find a doctor to do it and I’m in too rural of an area. The ones I’m allowed are: risperdal, latuda, abilify, zyprexa, Seroquel, Geodon, clozaril
You mean finding a doctor to inject you? Can’t a nurse do that? Or what do you mean?
Yes, find an office who can do that for me. I wouldn’t know where to go around here. My psychiatrist is online. That’s how rural I am. To see one in person my appointment is not until August. I’d like to try invega in pill form first, but that route isn’t covered.
Some typicals may give you TD others, no. I’ve tried abilify, risperidone, thorazine, Seroquel, haldol, fluphenazine (pills and injection), zyprexa, perphenazine, and invega sustenna. I’ve tried a lot so never give up hope. Mine were all different prices and different side effects. There are a lot of typicals. Which ones did you take?
The anxiety. I’m taking a supplement to help with that. But I don’t know the long term effects of taking that supplement so I’m a guinea pig.
I’ve tried all of those except invega.
Okay, I think a hospital can give you the injection if your facility doesn’t, but there are also invega pills too. If you liked risperidone, you would like invega except with invega for me, I got more energy and motivation especially when depakote was added to the mix.
clozaril was quite a good drug…i was on it for a while but had to stop due to low white bood ceells…
currently on a combo of 800mg of quetiapine and 20mg of clopixol
I’m trying to get the pills approved through my insurance right now
Okay I hope they approve it!
Me too! Thanks. It’s so frustrating
What are you on now? How did you like seroquel?
I am on invega sustenna. I liked Seroquel, but my insurance stopped covering it. I was on a Seroquel, risperidone combo. It seemed to help, just had to watch about eating too much
Ugh. Weight gain is why zyprexa had to be stopped.
I didn’t gain weight, my mom was just getting aggravated because I was eating all her food. Zyprexa puts on the most weight
Same here. My 15mg Abilify is running out of effectiveness in difficult situations. Tried almost every antipsychotic available except clozapine.
