What meds to try?

I tried Risperdal, Seroquel, Abilify, Latuda and Zyprexa. Now we’re going to try Clozapine. I guess if that doesn’t work my only choice will be the typicals, 1st gen APs like Haldol but they have a higher risk of TD. Geodon my Dr doesn’t want to prescribe it.

Invega is similar to Risperdal so no point in trying it. I can’t be on Rexulti either.

Clozapine isn’t supposed to increase prolactin like Invega and Risperdal.

Is Saphris available to you?

I was just going to say that the Dr refused prescribing it. Also this one dissolves under the tongue idk how it will taste.

I was the one who suggested my Dr to prescribe Risperdal so he accepted but some meds he refuse to prescribe. I am currently seeing 2 pdocs.

It took some getting use to but now I like it, the black cherry one. I do ok on it but I also take Rexulti,

I personally think you should concentrate on making Clozapine work for now. It seems like you are looking ahead as if you expect it to be a failure.

I just want to prepare for the future I guess.

Haldol gave me a horrible case of restless leg syndrome. It also made me “dizzy” for lack of a better word. I couldn’t stand still without feeling like I was going to fall over. When I quit the RLS went away right away but the dizziness stuck around for a few months. I didn’t like Haldol, but some people do well with it.

You are right, besides the side effects I didn’t want to be on it because it has a higher risk of TD.

Maybe they will have Vraylar available in your country by the time you have tried out Clozapine if it doesn’t work out for you. That would be my next suggestion if it were available.

I hate doing weekly blood tests for Clozapine.

What about sulpiride or amisulpride? They are my favourites.

Don’t they get less frequent the longer you have been on it?

In conservative dosing the typicals have as much a chance of developing TD as Risperdal. I take 20mg of Stelazine and have no issues.

Not available here in north america.

Dr said weekly blood tests for 6 months then every 2 weeks for like a year and then every month. Its too much.

For the first 6 months, it’s once a week. In moths 7-12 it’s once every other week. After a year, it’s once a month.

Saphris does taste horrible but if it’s a med that works I’d say it’s worth it. The taste only last a few minutes.
Hopefully the clozapine works

I wish your doctor would prescribe you Geodon. I used to take it with Navane (1st gen) and it worked mostly ok for me. Better than Risperidone and Seroquel. I lost weight on it, though I needed a really high dose so it made me a bit flat.

Getting off Geodon is awful, though. When I had to taper down to switch to Caplyta I thought I was going to die.

I still take Navane with my Caplyta. It makes me a little foggy/flat, but it’s not awful. I don’t know if that’s a 1st gen possibility?
