Risperdal vs Zyprexa?

Should I switch from Risperdal to Zyprexa?
Idk if they’re the same.

Risperdal highers prolactin and Zyprexa causes more weight gain?

I thought you were going to wait to see if you could get on a partial dopamine agonist? I don’t know much about Zyprexa.

The only partial agonist I can use is Vraylar but its not available in Canada. I will call them tomorrow.

They should make more partial agonists.

Yeah, I’d wait until you at least talk to them before making a decision. Otherwise , youll want to switch to vraylar as soon as you switch to Zyprexa.

I won’t get Zyprexa tomorrow, my psy apt is 15 Sep.

Yeah, hopefully they give you good news on your phone call.

I did so much better moving to zyprexa.

I gained most of my weight on Risperdal. When first on risperdal it helped my psychosis but I had things like poverty of thought. It got better on zyprexa and I’ve successfully lost weight on it because I do better with motivation and things…

It’s worth a shot and we’re all different. I was reluctant to try zyprexa because of the weight gain but in hindsight that was the least of my issues…

Stay away from risperidone… it negatively affected my libido and also it is worst for weight gain. I gained 20kg just in 3 months. I wiuld go on Zyprexa

Hopefully vraylar will work for you…

Zyprexa raises blood glucose levels too high.
It also makes you gain a lot of weight usually.

Speak to your doctor but I would stick to Risperdal honestly.

Well risperidone makes prolactin sky rocket and also i did not have any ejaculations on it, and made my mab tits bigger

Zyprexa is better, according to my experience. But it causes weight gain.

I wouldn’t get my hopes up too much lol. Plus, it’s expensive unless you got good insurance.

Some people said Vraylar didn’t work for them. It worked for me. I have schizo-affective disorder, depressive type. It keeps me out of the hospital, but I still have my symptoms. Back in 2015, I went like 10 times if you include out patient. Now, I’m down to 0-1 times a year. It pays for itself. But without insurance, it’s too expensive unless you’re a millionaire…

I just don’t want you to get your hopes up and it doesn’t work.

I had my hopes up several times like even with Caplyta. I’m going to see if I can get on both meds: caplyta and Vrayalr. Because I noticed some slight benefits with caplyta like eating at least half as much, more energy, and a big dent into my treatment resistant delusions. But I also didn’t do ■■■■ except stay in my head and was paranoid and low functioning because I was aware of cognizant of things. I kept thinking I had thought insertion (didn’t bother me that much) but I was more concerned about my potential future and how I ■■■■■■ it up. Not really my fault since my life was ruined and I’ve been a TI since 2011…oh well.

This is just my personal experience, your results may vary.

I always felt overly medicated and under affective on risperidone, I still got breakthrough symptoms, and bad exasperation of acute symptoms. Baseline was a 2/10 with spikes into 6/10 symptoms.

Zyprexa has kept my symptoms at 2/10 but I don’t spike as acute or as powerful, maybe a 4/10 max.

On both of them my voices have cut down from constant spirits picking on me, or the angels, to whispers I can’t make out, simple words or phrases on occasion.

You need to really watch your diet on Zyprexa, weight gain and diabetes are risks, but I’m happy to take them for some relief.

Yea I think it won’t be covered by insurance at first so maybe it will be covered beginning of next year or by next summer. At least its coming to Canada. I am not 100% confident that it will work but I have high hopes bcz Abilify improved my negative symptomes by 40-60%.

I have predominately negative symptoms. there’s really no treatment but it might help. Abilify isn’t really approved for negs. I’m not sure about Vraylar. THere is no magic pill or treatment. I was so desperate I bought and tried over 20 different supplements over the years. Some worked, some didn’t.

I did what I had to do to survive and move forward including the risks associated with supplements. I don’t regret it. My biggest issue now is energy drinks and smoking cigs. I think they ruin my negs like 40-60%. I was lifting weights, cleaning my room, walking, saving money, shaving, showering, brushing teeth when I lived at a board and care a few years back. I lived off 40-100 bucks a month. When you have less money, you tend to spend it better and do better in some cases.
