Which is better olanzipine or risperidone

I have gained a large amount of weight since May. That’s when I was put on olanzipine. I would appreciate your thoughts.

I gained weight on both, but olanzapine made me crave carbohydrates. Risperidone, I ate like a bird.

I cant really recommend zyprexa. And I dont know much about risperdal.

They are both potent and effective atypical APs.

I don’t have experience with Risperdone, but Zyprexa is my miracle med. I am on 7.5 mg and it completely controls my positive symptoms, including my paranoia. I restrict my calories to 1200-1400 a day and I have lost 28 pounds since starting Zyprexa. If you’re careful about what you eat, you don’t have to gain weight.

I gained 35lbs on risperidone. Made me ravenously hungry. I was also in very bad withdrawl for 2 years from one cut, and I threw up a dose and went into a scary painful crisis for almost 2 weeks. When I started risperidone, I was sick like I had been poisoned for 6 hours a day for 6 months.

Haven’t tried Zyprexa due to the weight gain thing but I gained 10kg on 2mg Risperidone in since I started it almost exactly 1 year ago. But I got rid of the 10 kg again on 2 months of protein shake.
Other than that I have no side effects other than emotional flattening which I don’t mind. It also helps in stressful situations. I like it!

I took Zyprexa October 2008 to March 2011 when I came down with diabetes. I weighed like 340 lbs. My doctor switched me over to Risperdal and I’ve been on it ever since. I’m not as hungry on Risperdal as I was on Zyprexa.

Im on risperidone 3mg and havent gained any weight or changed my eating habits

i would say risperidone, im on paliperidone which is almost the same as risperidone and for me its wayy better than olanzapine, i gained over 100 lbs on olanzapine, ive lost 50 since starting paliperidone i can eat like a normal person now and am not always ravenous,

i have more energy and motivation, paliperidone is the metabolite of risperidone so i know they might have very slightly different effects but they are good meds

Defo not Olanzapine gained 2 stone on it I was 20mg per day,now on Lurasidone and weight back to normal

zyprexa comes with a warning
If you can try risperidone i would if you have the option
it is possible to lose weight after the first few months on this one
i did it twice

it is all gained back now on a 1st gen medication but risperidone gives you a chance
Risperidone is only appetite increasing for the first 6 months i think
gained and lost 12 kg both times pretty easily

olanzapine gave me a rampant appetite on which dieting was like being in hell (of wanting to eat for hours at a time every day)

I refused zyprexa when offered. I heard horror stories about weight gain with zyprexa and diabetes scare. I used to be on risperdal. I can only recommend vraylar though. It is my miracle med. I’m waiting on min 101 or iti 007.
