How do you treat negative symptoms? what medications do you use?
What antipsychotic are you on ?
There are antipsychotic meds that might help negative symptoms:
Abilify, rexulti, vraylar
A supplement called NAC has some research behind it saying that it helps negative symptoms. I tried it and found it interacted with Abilify (which I’m on) and it gave me suicidal ideation.
I don’t know. I have negative symptoms and they aren’t being addressed by my dr or therapist. They both focus on my positive symptoms it seems. I don’t know why this is. Negative symptoms suck. I don’t personally know of any medication that specifically treats the negative symptoms off the top of my head either, unfortunately.
There are no FDA approved meds for those symptoms
I have to force myself to do things like shower and go to groups and get groceries. I just feel like sitting and watching TV all day.

But isn’t it better than your haldol?
Anything is better than Haldol except Zyprexa.
Haldol is in case of emergency only, when I’m starting to relapse and I need to head it off.
Symptoms appeared quickly, two months ago there was nothing, only depression. Gradually, over two months, feelings and emotions disappeared and apathy appeared
Is everyone here from the United States?
I’m 34 years old, I didn’t have any problems before, schizophrenia usually comes at a young age, I’m surprised
Paroxetine, Quetiapine
Paranoid schizophrenia?
Ozmandias is your man. He overcame cognitive issues. Great for advice
My SZ started at age 24 (when I first caught a visual hallucination; I saw someone walk toward me, then past me, but when I turned around they were nowhere in sight). I think there were some signs during my childhood too. I’ve heard of SZ occurring in older ages, but it’s not as common.
I have no positive symptoms. cognitive impairment in the form of brain fog and dulling of emotions and apathy. It’s been like this for two months, everything was fine before. this is weird
I saw a therapist twice a year and had anxiety depression. but two months ago everything changed
