Is it because we all have different genetics?
Overmedication can look like negative symptoms.
But I am not overmedicated. I am only on 4mg Risperdal, others here take more than that and they don’t have negative symptoms.
What negatives do you suffer from?
All, asociality, anhedonia, avolition, apathy, low hygiene, alogia etc
It’s a million dollar mystery…
It’s trial and error. Only med that worked for me (negatives too) was Vraylar. I think time helped and experimenting with the right supplements. It worked for me. I still suffer from impaired motivation and drive, but it could be the smoking and caffeine especially in excess. I noticed I did 100x more off these things like brush my teeth, lift weights, clean my room, and shower.
I have lack of pleasure, I find it difficult to come up with things to talk about, I prefer to be alone, I have no motivation, I have flat affect, I could stand to take more baths, and I think a lot of the people on here struggle with the same problems. We just do our best everyday and try the best we can. Some good days, some bad days. I remember years spent in bed. I’m doing pretty good right now. The Rexulti and Cymbalta really help me.
I am calling the Vraylar med company tomorrow to find out if Vraylar will come to Canada hopefully
Yeah everyone is different. Why does one person experience severe terrible side effects on one med that another person loves and gets no side effects from? Meds affect diff people differently
How long have you been on meds?
When I first started meds I had TERRIBLE negs. But for some reason I snapped out it after a few years.
For me they went away with time I guess.
I have been on antipsychotics for 10 years.
Could be depression . . .
Low dopamine is linked to negative symptoms this is why negative symptoms get worse when increase AP dose. Also another major factor is duration of illness. Negative symptoms get worse when this duration increases.
If take dopamine and epinephrine boosting things like wellbutrin, strattera, tyrosine etc then negative symptoms can be reduced but it can bring positive symptoms too which need to manage without medication. Omega 3 can improve negative symptoms but it too carries the side effects like said before.
I figured some places are higher and lower (dopamine) in the brain. The pills are like chemical straitjackets. Not really sophisticated because they target the whole brain, right?
Yea my psychiatrist said so too and that the best right now are partial agonists like Abilify, Rexulti and Vraylar, they don’t always work and they aren’t perfect though.
Yes try importing such drugs if its not available in your country. Pdocs can do it i think if they approve. But the main thing is you need to cope with the possible worsening of positive symptoms. I mean not go out of control when struck with worsening anxiety, anger, paranoia and other positive symptoms.
Its illegal to import non-approved meds.
Vraylar is not an illegal drug its used in many countries.
I used to have negative symptoms. What helped was an antidepressant and forcing myself to do things. I still struggle…I literally have to force myself.
Its not approved for anything in Canada, its illegal in Canada.
