I need a new puter 😏

I really like my old laptop but I think it’s knackered and idk if it’s worth repairing, I was thinking of getting a Lenovo, it’s not for gaming but more media stuff like word and surfing, doing research, blogs, social etc,

I have a 7 year old Lenovo Y50. It can run games that have been released prior to 2018.

Lenovo’s are pretty expensive and somewhat are made for gaming.

Fun fact: Lenovo used to be IBMs line of laptops - The ThinkPads. The name may still be around, but IBM sold it’s entire laptop production, everything, to Lenovo (a pre-exsting company).

I bought a new laptop puter, its an HP Pavilion and it looks ok but i’m use to google and this came with edge lol, anyone heard of edge? what do you think? my friend said it was rubbish but idk

HP are really good. Download the google Chrome browser and ditch the edge browser.

i managed to get chrome but i am really perplexed why microsoft chose this symbol which resembles a massively outdated browser (explorer) which failed abysmally n the end, what the hell? man! why did they go with that? couldnt they think of anything original :rofl: buncha floozies haha, they need their heads examined man, the whole world is crazy not me lol i’m just a victim of the craziness :rofl::rofl:

My next computer (5-10 years from now) will probably be an apple. I guess they are more safe and secure. They look nicer and the OS is pretty. Just really expensive and not a lot of functionality lol. Mainly for personal use. I get bored of video games now and again. Only game I really liked was WoW and BF4.

I like firefox.

i dont think microsoft likes chrome very much, i tried changing my email to gmail but windows wanted access to read/edit and possibly permanently delete everything :face_with_raised_eyebrow: i was like wtf

They like it enough that they’re rebuilding Edge around Chromium, the core software in the Chrome browser. It’ll just be customized for MS and their software offerings.

would you rate edge though? what dyou think of it?

I use it on a couple of my computers, it’s okay, faster than IE was and much more secure. It’s also faster than Chrome, which is getting bloated. My preferred browser is Opera.

why did they use that symbol though? i hated IE it was never any good

It’s heavily used in the corporate world so they probably stuck with it for that reason. It creates a familiarity that comforts PHBs. It’s not that IE was horrible, but it had the burden of having to be backward compatible with not only a lot of MS software (think MS Office), but also customer created code. My own workplace hasn’t transitioned to Edge yet because we have a lot internal apps that only run on IE. We also use Chrome for things that won’t work in IE.

i was told chrome uses loads of ram so i gues edge does too but i dont care much about that, i’d love to use edge but heard it has lots of issues so thats puting me off, i’ve been advised to use firefox for better privacy but its just complicated now

If you can afford a mac air I’d highly recommend. You can get the 2017 model pretty cheap now compared to the newer one.

I had one that lasted 8 years and I still sold it for £200 when I was finished with it.
