Hungry all the time after taking olanzapine

That’s such a crazy drug. It really messes with your metabolic system in every way.

I don’t think it is possible to manage one’s appetite on that medication. Speak to your doctor about it.

I tried to get a doctors appointment to reduce and they have just ignored me

I gained 60 lbs on that stuff. Got diabetes and ended up in the hospital… After stopping I lost all 60lbs

I’m on Olanzapine too. I can eat a massive meal and only 30 minutes later i’m hungry again. It’s very frustrating.

It helps decrease my paranoia and delusions so i’m thankful for that… but it’s very hard to lose weight on it.

I’m way too heavy for my height. If I don’t lose a considerable amount of weight, i’ll probably have a heart attack in my 40’s.

That’s good man. I’ve read many horror stories of people who can’t sleep at all after stopping Olanzapine.

I might stop it in the future if I can’t lose weight.

I had a hard time sleeping when i lowered my risperidone, i was sleeping like 5h a day waking up at 4am, i feel much less hungry on risperidone than zyprexa

Well hope you can get were you wanna be. I loved zyprexa as far as my positives but those side effects… Also hope you don’t have sleep issues… The few times I couldn’t sleep when I was psychotic were hell man… Good luck!!!

On zyprexa i was psychotic and had insomnia stayed up 4am couldnt sleep, slept few hrs. For me psychosis gives me insomnia i stay up all night, 15mg zyprexa didnt fix my psychosis i was fully psychotic on it even abilify was better, dr wanted me on 40mg zyprexa i said no, risperidone working good for me now other than negative symptoms

There’s also lybalvi with samidorphin and olanzapine. It’s an appetite suppressant. But if you’re on a high dose of the zyprexa it doesn’t work that much.

same. everytime i took it i would gain like 30 pounds in just a month (even as a kid) and lose the weight very quickly when i quit it. i found no way to not gain on it cause it is like having extreme munchies. it also caused the weight to go to my stomach which isnt normal for me and that is an early sign of metobolic syndrome and diabetes

Yep I had that too
Gained weight in record time

But also with my current AP Clozaril , I gained a little

I’m on latuda now and it’s been pretty good with the weight too. I like my current meds not many negatives either :blush:
