Love how it decreases my paranoia and delusions. Hate how it makes me hungry all the time.
Who else is on Zyprexa? (Olanzapine)

Who else is on Zyprexa? (Olanzapine)
I’m having the exact same experience
Funny thing is I take zyprexa for my mood. My voices diminished over time and my paranoia was really only bad while hospitalized. I like some of my visual hallucinations, like if I’ve been coloring and I close my eyes I’ll have visions of things I could draw. But lately I’ve cursed my imagination and not seen much.
Makes it so hard to lose weight. It is still possible with diet and exercise, just makes it more difficult.
The extreme hungry and how it affects my impulse control are my major issues. My rheumatologist wants me to switch APs, but I’m afraid to, because this one calms me down
I’m also afraid to switch AP’s, mainly because of the hundreds of horror stories ive read about olanzapine withdrawal insomnia. It scares me.
Wishing you all the best CoCo!
My relationship with olanzapine was 100 procent hate and hate
If I could have quitted i would
Thanks @TheCanuk . Good luck to you too.
I take olanzapine. I try to lose weight, but it doesn’t work. At least my weight has been stable for years and I don’t gain weight. I have no sz symptoms as long as I take the olanzapine.
Risperdal really made me eat everything and gain weight but zyprexa was a slow gain for me. Yeah it is like you and really does help me with the positives.
I got off it to try abilify and wasted a year or two but honestly zyprexa works well for me and it’s me for life.
I’ve adopted other strategies as you know for the weight loss and stuff. It’s not easy and not sure how it works over the long term but I’m happy on lowest clinical dose out here which is 7.5mgs.
same. it worked well, but the food stuff too extreme. now invega not so bad, and lately im noticing how zombielike and flat i was on olanzapine, which isnt an issue on invega
İ am on olanzapine too it makes me very sleepy i have a hard time waking up in the morning
For me it works very good. No positives at all. Yes I gained weight quickly, say 20 or 25 kilos in a few months. So I had to get disciplined with diet and lost 30 to be on my ideal weight. And it takes constant discipline to maintain. But once it’s a routine it’s okay. And I like to think the diet I am on has additional health benefits aside from weight loss. And to accomplish something that takes time and discipline makes me feel good. Challenges are not just a nuisance but also an opportunity because of this.
I’ve been taken it for the best part of 12 years and like it. Recently gone down to 10mg from 20mg and don’t so extreme hunger pangs. The pros outway the cons with Olanzapine. It helps me sleep.
I have the same love/hate for Abilify. I want to eat everything, but it keeps the noise sensitivity at bay. Though over time, it’s been wearing off, and there are more and more breakthrough symptoms.
I mean I was tired, depressed and hungry all the time. It was the worst 3 years in my entire life
I remember being on Zyprexa, it made me hungry and gave me dystonia in my legs.
I can’t eat much because of stomach ulcer. It’s funny how you adapt when you have to. Just shows theres a lot of psychology in it.
This drug made me fat and sane
It’s a constant tug of war between the two
We need an alternative that is identical but without the weight gain
There is a new version of olanzapine called lybalvi. It’s supposed to stop weight gain, but it’s not availible in all countries yet.
