Had my first guitar lesson

It went well.

The homework assignment I question whether I have the short term memory to accomplish in a weeks time though.

He has me working out of a book. The first part I have no issues with. Learning E F G on little E string and practicing quarter, half and whole notes. I pretty much already learned this so I should have no problems.

The second part, however, might be a challenge for my poor sz brain. I’m supposed to learn A C D E and G chords. I already know D, but still, it’s a lot to try to crowd into memory in a week.

I guess we will see what I’m capable of :grimacing: :scream:.

Thanks @yoda123 . I just have a little doubt about my post sz memorizing capabilities. I’m afraid I may mix things up. I will try though, and hopefully I can get it.

I remember my first lesson I was 4 years old the guitar that they bought me was carved like gold my stepfather taught me a few little notes told me that my fingers would have to grow up now many years later I still play the chords but my stubby little fingers make it harder to show

I’ve somewhat got D and A chords down. I’m having a hell of a time with C chord. I end up muting string 4( D string) when I bring finger 3 up for fretting string 5(A string). I can’t get enough bend on that finger. Oh well. I’ve got 7 days. I guess it can wait for tomorrow. I’ll just practice D and A until I go to sleep.

I’m absolutely thrilled for you!!! I’ve had guitars for a little while but struggled so bad with memory on high dose APs that I only played simple songs directly from books (usually something like Hey Jude by Beatles). I’m trying again… new guitars, different and lower dose AP. I can’t afford an instructor, but I snagged a great multi-CD lesson collection that includes a book. I haven’t opdned it yet, though I’ve had it awhile. I’m trying to play a few chords without fat-fingering the strings. My fingers are wonderfully long, just pudgy lol.

Fingers crossed for you!!! Maybe we can compare notes later! I’d love to hear about your guitar and the kind of music you’d like to play.

Good luck @Happy_H . I’d love to compare notes with you later.

I’m happy to share any knowledge I glean from my instruction, so feel free to pm me if you have any questions you can’t solve on your own, where tips I get from instruction may help.
