I like aggressive music and witty rap. I love metal. I also like less aggressive and more rebellious music like grunge. I do not listen to pop at all. There is no pop in my library or iPod. I like blues and rock, and I love blues rock like The White Stripes. I was born in Memphis, have lived here forever and go to the university here. There is rock and blues downtown every ■■■■■■■ weekend. I’m friends with the front man of a rock band that plays routinely at the Hard Rock Cafe. I went to high school with him.

Definitely New Wave. I hate all rap and hip/hop with a passion. Duran Duran, Depeche Mode, Thompson Twins…etc. Oh and Def Leppard!

No. I’ve stopped trying to listen to music posted here. It seems like noise to me. MOO.

I have a wide range but it borders on obscurity or counterculture.
I like old rap but not new. I like bluegrass but not traditional…slamgrass. Blues. Jazz. Trip hop. Female anti-folk. Some old punk. Some jambands. The occasional pop song that is unavoidable.

I know the Manager of that Hard Rock.
I have fond memories of Memphis in May…Beale.

I don’t think that just because we all share the schizophrenia commonality means that we share the same taste in music. We are as diverse in our personal likes and dislikes as the rest of the population.

I think it has a lot to do with one’s age. I studied the classics but can find them depressingly heavy. My ears aren’t young enough to pick up on a lot of the stuff you young kids love.

I listen to this song almost everyday. It’s one of the few songs that make me feel something!

We definitely don’t. I can’t get @77nick77 to listen to anything recorded in this millennium!

lol @77nick77 FIGHT THE POWER!!! :fist:

Oh dear. I believe that limits you to perhaps five songs out of the entire genre.

Heheheh.

Actually, I think there’s a lot of (twisted) enlightment in Tupak, NWA, et al. I just can’t tolerate the (non-) musical packaging.

An extremely mentally gifted – and massively cyclothymic (very rapid cycling bipolar) young lady I know is into folk punk and has shown me a lot of lyrics. Again, the musical packaging is not my thing (it makes me yawn, mostly), but the lyric content is Bob Dylan’s, Jim Morrison’s and Lou Reed’s grandchildren’s.

Personally, I love insight lyrics and groovy accompaniment as wide-ranging as Alanis Morissette to Metallica.

In fact, I would say that putting on a headset and reading that tiny little sheet of lyrics that came with the cassette of “Jagged Little Pill” while I listened one night in 1996 might be the most growth-inspiring experience I’ve ever had in an hour.

I get the impression none of you like my tastes in music. Classical, new wave, pop, but mostly electronica. I like it when they experiment with sound.

I abhor Duran duran.
