Did you quit using a nicotine replacement like patches, gum or lozenges? If so how was it when it was time to completely come off nicotine? I have 15 lozenges left and I’m a little nervous to run out. I don’t want it to trigger a smoking relapse. Any advice would be appreciated.
Im trying to quit at the moment. But the vape im using is making me cough, so ive ended up going and buying some baccy. I should try and persevere with it - maybe its the vape im buying. Tbh im not too concerned about my health, im just starting to resent paying out nearly £80 quid a fortnight for tobacco.
I quit smoking a little over 4 years ago and started vaping. Now I’m trying to quit vaping using the gum. I haven’t vaped in 3 weeks so now I want to get off nicotine forever…hopefully I will succeed. Do you still have the urge to smoke while using the lozenges?
No, I have no urge to smoke. The mini lozenges are very effective to curb the nicotine fits. I also used the patches to help me taped down on the nicotine. I couldn’t have done it without the patches. Good luck with getting off the vape. Do you still have the urge or is the gum helping?
I still have the urge to vape because of the long habit of inhaling something. The gum takes care of the nicotine craving.
I know for me it took a couple months to stop the desire for a cigarette even though I was getting the nicotine elsewhere. I think the act of smoking itself is just as addictive as the nicotine. But stick with it, it does get easier.
Thanks for the encouragement…I’m doing my best to stay strong.
You’re welcome. Three weeks is a long time, you’re doing a good job at staying strong
I once quit with medication for two or three months. In the time I quit I just layed all day long in bed. I now got medication to quit smoking from my father, I even have nicotine gum here. I’m not totally sure if I should try to quit again. I tried in the last weeks four times to quit. But I relapsed. I slowly start to enjoy my smokes more and more, but also the thought of quitting is coming up regular nowadays.
I can’t even remember how many times I tried to quit before I actually did it. Keep trying, you can do it. If I quit after 35 years anybody can.
Nope. Not planning to, unless the need arises.
I tried nicotine patches. The therapy failed and i became a chainsmoker.
I’m trying to, but instead of actually quitting, I’ve started smoking again and am now using the gum to smoke less often. I’m hoping I can slowly cut down till I’m only using the gum. I’ve tried to quit cold turkey so many times and it never works. So I’m going to try just smoking fewer cigs until I get to zero. It’s just so hard to quit because smoking calms me down. Not the nicotine as much as the act of smoking itself. Maybe I should get herbal cigarettes or something. If they’re any safer than cigs.
Well just keep trying and you’ll do it. Good luck.
As i tried champix and i had a suicideattempt. It blocks the nicotine giving you that rusb, what i understand.
I quit smoking just before my first psychotic break, actually. I was a light smoker though, like a pack a week. So I was able to get off the stuff cold turkey.
You’ve tried everything. I’m sorry it’s been difficult for you.
You mean impossible.
Wish i would be addicted to tomatoes as i would grow them myself. I have to leave the country to get the freedom to grow my own supplies but this world is stuffed. That would motivate me to have a gardenhobby. When i don’t smoke i lie in bed. I can only be productive with cigarettes as others with alcohol.
I gave up 14 months ago. Mainly because of the expense. It took me a year of repeated attempts.
The successful one was cold turkey for about 2 months, then when like usual I was about to relapse I got into vaping nicotine. It worked.
I vape unflavoured fluid that I make myself out of medical grade stuff. So nothing to worry about from sus additives. Plus it is so cheap it’s nearly impossible to calculate the price - something less than $1 a week. Cigarettes in Australia are silly expensive and apparently I have saved $14,000 already!
