As part of my new year’s resolution, I’ve decided to quit vaping. I’ve already cut back a lot during the christmas days, but I’m not doing well with quitting completely.
I’ve vaped 8 times in the past two days.
When I try to not follow my whim to go out and vape, it feels like it used to do when I had obsessive-compulsive toughs. I get restless and uncomfortable and unfocused, and it’s as if no matter how long I try to wait it out, I won’t find peace before I have a few puffs.
My mother has suggested I leave the vape in her care, and that I do jumping jacks or eat carrots whenever I feel the urge, but I feel like it wouldn’t help much.
Quitting weed wasn’t this hard. Or well, it was, but I had no compulsion telling me to get high, I just got withdrawals if I didn’t.
Does anyone have some advice or experiences they’d like to share?
I never even tried to quit vaping. The closest I got was when 6mg (sub ohm) wasn’t doing much for me. And then I nearly went back on cigarettes. So I upped the strength to 7mg and I’m happy again.
I suspect the best way to quit is cold turkey BUT have it ready in case you’re tempted to buy cigarettes.
I have tried to quit vaping. I lowered the nicotine to 3mg but I was constantly vaping. So I went back to 6mg. Still constantly vaping. And craving cigarettes.
Recently I went to 12mg (they didn’t have any 10mg) now I’m barely vaping.
But this is now a long shot from quiting. Only cut down a lot. Vaping a quarter of what I was before.
Goldenrex is 100% right. A pharmacist can direct you to where the lozenges are. You won’t need a prescription for them either as they are over the counter.
Best way is to not buy e-cigarettes (they are far too expensive) anymore. If you still have a problem you can see your PCP who may prescribe Chantix or Zyban.
I quit because everybody else was. Try hooking up with friends who quit. One of mine refuses to say “quit” because it reminded her of being called a quitter. So she always says “I stopped smoking,” I quit gradually over months of time so when I actually quit for good it was no big deal. I had other activities in mind.
First I went on the gum, but I had a habit of chewing them too much (which caused an upset stomach) so I went on the lozenges (it dissolves quickly, within 15 min while administrating nicotine) and have been on that for about a year and a half.
I really need my nicotine, ha.
My advice is to go on lozenges and follow the schedule it provides for you. It works. I’ve known a couple of people that successfully quit.
