Quitting nicotine is HARD! Help?

As part of my new year’s resolution, I’ve decided to quit vaping. I’ve already cut back a lot during the christmas days, but I’m not doing well with quitting completely.
I’ve vaped 8 times in the past two days.

When I try to not follow my whim to go out and vape, it feels like it used to do when I had obsessive-compulsive toughs. I get restless and uncomfortable and unfocused, and it’s as if no matter how long I try to wait it out, I won’t find peace before I have a few puffs.

My mother has suggested I leave the vape in her care, and that I do jumping jacks or eat carrots whenever I feel the urge, but I feel like it wouldn’t help much.

Quitting weed wasn’t this hard. Or well, it was, but I had no compulsion telling me to get high, I just got withdrawals if I didn’t.

Does anyone have some advice or experiences they’d like to share?

I never even tried to quit vaping. The closest I got was when 6mg (sub ohm) wasn’t doing much for me. And then I nearly went back on cigarettes. So I upped the strength to 7mg and I’m happy again.

I suspect the best way to quit is cold turkey BUT have it ready in case you’re tempted to buy cigarettes.

I wish I could offer some help.

I have tried to quit vaping. I lowered the nicotine to 3mg but I was constantly vaping. So I went back to 6mg. Still constantly vaping. And craving cigarettes.

Recently I went to 12mg (they didn’t have any 10mg) now I’m barely vaping.

But this is now a long shot from quiting. Only cut down a lot. Vaping a quarter of what I was before.

I used nicotine lozenges when I quit smoking.

They May be helpful for vaping too?

What’s a lozenge?

Like a candy that contains medicine,

In this case, nicotine.

Those and the nicotine gum helped my husband stop smoking,

They’re super good for quitting, but then you have to quit them too,

You know what I mean?

Its easier, just its not an overnight thing.

Good luck, homegirl.

Goldenrex is 100% right. A pharmacist can direct you to where the lozenges are. You won’t need a prescription for them either as they are over the counter.

Um. Help in quitting smoking.

Sorry.
I gave up quitting smoking.

I’m nicotine free for three years plus. Drink water, Discuss, Delay, Distract, Deep breathe.

Best way is to not buy e-cigarettes (they are far too expensive) anymore. If you still have a problem you can see your PCP who may prescribe Chantix or Zyban.

I quit because everybody else was. Try hooking up with friends who quit. One of mine refuses to say “quit” because it reminded her of being called a quitter. So she always says “I stopped smoking,” I quit gradually over months of time so when I actually quit for good it was no big deal. I had other activities in mind.

I quit smoking 2 years ago.

First I went on the gum, but I had a habit of chewing them too much (which caused an upset stomach) so I went on the lozenges (it dissolves quickly, within 15 min while administrating nicotine) and have been on that for about a year and a half.

I really need my nicotine, ha.

My advice is to go on lozenges and follow the schedule it provides for you. It works. I’ve known a couple of people that successfully quit.

Maybe copy cat what i do when i think i have too many cigarettes?

I only allow my self to have one every 2 hrs. Which is a max of 8 per day.

I also play around with triggers. below

1.Wait 5 - 15 after a meal and not immediately after. Most times i dont want one anymore.

  1. Try not to smoke for first 30 minutes after waking. Do pleasant stretching exercises instead. (or some other thing like a shower).

  2. cut off time is 1hr before bed. smoking before bed keeps some people awake.

  3. last, drastic measure, patches. ohhh smoking with one on will make someone so very sick. roomspinning kind of sick.
