I just got back from the quickie mart for chocolate for Angie and when I was there there was two officers waiting on some food from the deli…after my purchase I left my keys on the counter…guess I was nervous…cops make you nervous?
When I was a kid and me and the gang smoked up, we were always on the look out for cops.
Now, after years of being sober I still get that quesy feeling whenever I see cops. Guess childhood memories remained engraved subconsciously forever.
I dont like it when they are driving behind me. One little screw up in your driving and you will have flashing lights behind you. When they pull me over it definitely makes me nervous.
Oh absolutely cops make me super nervous especially after I was on the inside for a short time. I’d be happy if I never saw another one. There does need to be some police presence in a neighborhood or people will drive like maniacs. It’s an inconvenient truth :\
I always hated cops. I guess I still do.
I have three cops in my family. Two (uncle’s) are retired and the other (aunt) is the sheriff in my county. Should I be nervous?
You understand the perks right? My dad got out of a couple DWIs because of his brother. I don’t mention that to brag. Not at all. I’m just pointing out that cops tend to call it the way they want to see it.
So yeah. They make me nervous. Especially the ones that bend and twist the law.
Btw my dad’s been sober for six years now.
I used to hate cops. It seemed like they were always spoiling my fun which consisted of smoking copious amounts of marijuana and drinking while driving. Later, the stakes got higher when I became addicted to crack. If I got caught it wasn’t a measly ticket like getting caught with a joint or two. Smoking crack was a felony and if I got caught, that meant most likely a direct trip to jail.
But I got clean in 1990 from drugs and alcohol. And I learned the trick to getting along with cops: I stopped doing illegal things. It’s a simple concept and easy to do. All it involves is not doing illegal things.
I have always hated cops. I’ve yet to live somewhere where the cops didn’t treat people like trash. Its worse in small towns
I always feel on guard when I walk past a police man
I noticed that a lot of sz diagnosed people are fearful of cops.
They make me nervous and I’ve always been a law abiding citizen.
wow so I’m not alone…I was geared up to answer to the cop if he called out that I forgot my keys. thank goodness the clerk pointed it out…
I had an AA sponsor who told me that one time a cop had beaten him up badly, and he tried to sue them. He said it is very scary for a street person to try to sue the cops. He said every time he saw a cop car his hamstrings clenched. He said you start to see them everywhere, and you believe they are following you. You start to think things like, "It would be easy for them to pick me up and take me to some dark ally and beat the ■■■■ out of me. I’ve felt that before. One time I was sitting in a cop car with handcuffs on, and I was thinking that it would be a simple matter for them to take me to some back ally and beat the ■■■■ out of me. I said to the policeman driving the car, “I guess the police are very practiced in the use of force.” He looked at me and said, “pain compliance” I asked him what that meant, and he said that they inflict enough pain to bring a person under control. I figured that meant he was going to take me to some back ally and beat the ■■■■ out of me.
I am not afraid of cops, but I am afraid of guns. I worked as an executive administrative assistant in a county jail for three years. The deputies there were awesome to work with. I just don’t like to be around the guns they wear on their belts. Inside the jail, their guns were in a locked safe, but not so in the admin building.
Sometimes the work force inmates would come and clean our building. That deputy always had his gun on too. I never quite got used to the guns, even though no one ever used them. They just scare me.
Honestly, in this day and age, there’s something wrong with you if cops don’t make you at least a teensy bit nervous.
Yeah, if you’re white. And even then it’s not a guarantee that you’re safe. May be different in other states, but here, my mom got pulled over for driving back and forth too many times while taking my brother and I do summer band camp.
I pulled into a gas station the other day. I was going to go in to pay. Then I notice the cop car. I decided to pay with my credit card. at the pump. In the summer I worry about going somewhere on the weekend. I may run into a road block of the cops looking for drunks coming off the river. Especially on the three day weekends.
Cops make me very nervous,
Had one bad experience and it soured me for good.
Late last night around 1:30 am, I took my little dog out for her last short potty walk. No sooner did she squat in her favorite potty place, when a police SUV pulled up and parked. Both my little dog and I were quite startled. I’m not sure why the police were there but they were on a call of some kind.
I though you were gonna tell me the police were gonna bust you for letting your dog crap there. We do have signs in our park that say not cleaning up after your dog is a misdemeanor.
My neighborhood HOA has us all well trained to pick up after our pets – we get fined otherwise. I’m more afraid of the HOA than the police.
