There are people who don’t gain weight on it, but I was not one of them. My heart condition limits my physical activity.

I’ve lost on zyprexa. I gained most of my weight on risperdal. It’s one of those things where often you just have to try a med. We are all different and respond differently and I’ve found that the cognitive improvement helps my motivation to exercise on zyprexa.

When I was first put on zyprexa I’d heard all the negatives about it but I gave it a go and it’s been good to me.

I have been on the combo of Olanzapine 5mg+Amisulpride100mg for nearly two years. I think it is weight neutral as my weight has been stable around 54-56kg during the past two years. According to my observation, Olanzapine 5mg did not increase my appetite so I have not put on weight.

I’ve been on Zyprexa 10mg and put on 12 kg in two months. That scares me, but if it’s only 5,I don’t think I’ll be gaining a weight…

Things differ person to person. I took 5mg for a year or two recently maybe gained 2 kilos. And it kept fluctuating. Others here are complaining of weight gain. So it depends. Personally didn’t find it excess.

I am on lybalvi which is zyprexa and an added ingredient for weight loss, an appetite suppressant and I have no hunger. I’m eating about 700 calories some days but then I may not get out of bed that day. I can maintain a 1500 calorie diet on it.

I take zyprexa and don’t gain weight at all… but I think the opposite is more common.

Geodon has been good for me, but I’m still vulnerable to the weather when I take it.

I’m on 5mg. Taking consideration to what I eat I manage to keep weight stable. Not so easy to lose weight though.

Can you gain weight on Olanzapine even if you count calories?

Olanzapine makes you hungry. Sure you can count calories, but you need to eat to make the hunger go away unless you can take the suffering.

Interestingly, I also gained weight on 2 mg Risperidone or 100 mg Clozapine which was consistent with higher doses of either of those medications. Good luck losing weight on Olanzapine The fastest I gained was on Olanzapine, even Clozapine doesn’t compare.

I was able to do it but had to drink plenty of water or Cola Zero. Or eat carrots or apples instead of alot of sugar. It’s difficult but if you follow the calories count, you should be okay.

@angledangle according to the research papers published by this forum, Clozapine have higher weight gain that Olanzapine
