Can I ask all of you something?

How are you okay with how fuckedup the world is? I do get a little obsessive about how flawed humanity is, which is why I put this under unusual beliefs.

It’s just that I really don’t think I’m being delusional. People are starving and we have enough money to end their suffering however we don’t.

People are killed because of their skin color or religion or sexual orientation or gender identity. The entire western society is set up for all of us to work and work until we die.

Legalized slavery is alive and well in the US with their barbaric prison systems set up to lock up POC to do backbreaking labor for very little money.

The rich are insanely wealthy. The poor are the large majority. The world is extremely overpopulated. People are dying for things we have cures for; simply because they can’t afford treatment.

It costs money to further educate yourself (wtf) and many are uneducated even though we have resources to stop this.

pollution is terrible and our environment is suffering. War is simply a game for rich men to play with human lives as pawns.

Genocide is literally happening in 2018. I don’t believe my government is a true democracy.

People who murder others like George Zimmerman can become celebrities who are invited to host events and even sell the weapon they used to kill an innocent child for top dollar.

Police brutality is a terrible issue. Systematic racism is still in place, years after the Jim Crow era.

There is so much ■■■■ that is ■■■■■■ up in our world I haven’t even hit the tip of the iceberg. I could go on like this for hours. I won’t or else I’m going to sound rambly (if I don’t already)

It’s just… I think it’s so messed up. Everyone I have talked to in real life, and I mean EVERYONE, is completely unsatified with the way the world is; they either disagree with how government is run or how we are basically sheep built in a system to keep us complacent etc etc.

Older people commonly tell me ‘it’s messed up but that’s the way the world is’ but I think that is a ■■■■■■■■ excuse.

I hate the world I live in. I resent my mother for giving birth to me when the earth is so terrible. I will never have children personally because i truly don’t think it would be fair of me to bring a child into this mess.

The worst thing? I’m in one of the best countries in the world to live in.

How can I stop freaking out about this stuff? I can’t just live like everyone else is supposed to. Our society is fundamentally flawed and yet I see no changes in sight.

TLDR; How are you okay with how completely and utterly fuckedup the world is?

(Mods does this count as government conspiracy theories? I tried to stick to facts I can back up with evidence. No lizards running parliament here :snake: :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes: )

When I was young,

This stuff bothered me too.

All you can do is what you can do,

I volunteer and help homeless people in my community.

Basically, you get older and realize bitching isn’t doing any good,

Get out there and do something.

I have a, what did that one guy call it, philosophy of evil. The world can do really evil things, and so can I. But that doesn’t necessarily make those evil things inherently evil. I mean I really feel good when people start to lose weight. But where would I be if everyone was healthy? The bad things in the world can give people a purpose for their lives. Something to fix and make the world a better place.

I’ve posted about this many times before, but I can be a real ■■■■■■■ if I want to. But I only do that if provoked (or try to anyway). Say if someone is coming at me with a knife, I’m going to put that guy down as fast as I can and cause him as much pain as possible to make sure he can’t/won’t come after me again. Causing physical damage to someone is a bad thing, but in self defense, it can be alright.

If you don’t like what is going on in the world, find something you can start fixing within your ability. And as you get better, slowly expand into new things.

Sometimes this will be rough, and you might do things that you don’t like, but finding something that is hard and worth doing will be the moment you realize that you found your purpose in life. I know I found mine, and it’s personal training. I will never die knowing that more people need me to help.

The world is only f’d up because people in it are f’'d up. And you can not change human nature that causes people to kill, cheat, rob, abuse, take advantage of other people etc anymore, then you can change wolves not to kill innocent sheep. You’re not going to change mean, f’d up individuals who cause trouble because they like causing trouble and it works for them and they have no desire to change and they can get away with it.

If you really want to be able to deal with things like this. It would be a good idea to study eastern religions that deal with yin/yang concepts. Learn about the good that can come from bad. A good place to start would be a martial arts school. Or there might be a few people on here that can help you in a private message.

It is up to the government to look after those people that are starving. Taxes provide revenue for the Federal government to redistribute from those WHO HAVE to the those WHO HAVE NOT.

There is human prejudice that is instinctively built into all of us. People whose belief are in Islam or of African decent seem to be targeted. Humans of all societies need to utilize their time whether it be work that they enjoy doing or work that they hate doing. There is such a thing as retirement at 65 years of age so not all of us will be working until we die.

Education after 18 years of age should cost the student some funds as not all students are equal. This is why there are scholarships & awards such as the Governor Generals Academic Medal given to those elite students. Same can be said about educational institutions which is why Universities such as Harvard, Oxford or McGill are ranked the best.

阴/阳 (yin/yang) = moon/sun or female/male etc…

I wouldn’t call yin/yang a religion but a sort of philosophy.

I know. I hear this and I wince and my mind just reels.

I try to speak up here and there and it’s like… wtf do I bother for? LOL

Then I watch some YTP and think, yeah…this is life.

I used to be like this on Facebook. Then I realized I wasn’t doing any good for myself or others so I just gave up.

I can understand all of what you’re saying @valiumprincess, these issues were similar to the problems that I grappled with even more so when i was going thru my last serious psychosis. One of the things that terrified me was that I believed it was up to me to somehow convince all the people of the world to stop fighting and to somehow unite and stop hating and mistreating each other. It seemed impossible and i simply couldn’t figure out what i could possibly do to change the innate darkness of human nature and the human condition.
These are age old questions and no one has been able to find any definitive answers or save the world, much less a country or even any groups that have been and currently are being persecuted on a daily basis.
The only thing I realize I can do these days is to try to treat my loved ones and the other people around me with as much kindness and respect as possible, until someone gives me enough reason to not treat them well. To do this, I have to take care of my well-being too, including my fragile mental health.
The only other thing i can do to try to make a difference is to try to vote as much as possible. I never really worried about voting until this last election, I didn’t know anything about politics till fairly recently. But after the last election, I was around too many people pissed off about it who didn’t vote and exercise their right to make a difference in how things are done. Voting is pretty much the only was yo affect the way things are done in the US. I know that some will argue that even voting won’t change things, but that’s all i can really think of.
Don’t ever let your idealism die @valiumprincess. The future is in our youth around the world, maybe you can find new ways to try to level out the playing field a little or even in a major way.

Maybe the problem is you need your highest ideal. The best goal you could work toward. And the lowest point you could ever be, your personal hell. The situation to avoid.

You seem to be at your lowest point. Find your highest goal. Your personal heaven.

I struggle with this a lot. I used to believe I was the reason for all the world’s suffering. I still struggle with it sometimes.

What I learned is you just have to try to make it better in little ways. Try to be kind try to be helpful try to be selfless. And maybe the world will change someday.

I hope the world will get better before we destroy it.

Thanks everyone who’s responded so far, I’m glad others feel the same way as me.

Sometimes it’s hard for me to think positively, especially when it seems like there is nothing to be happy about.

I was upset and I cuddled my animals. I think if animals love humans then we can’t all be that bad.

Next time I’m having a particular hard time with this type of thinking, I will distract myself with my pets. It seems to help me because I can’t be angry petting animals and being gentle is good to do when I get like this.

Perhaps, I shouldn’t have been so encouraging behind your upset.

Just know… many people feel the same and are working for a change towards fairness every day.

And yeah… realistically… you are just another person… we’re all just sort of born strapped-in to the ride.

That means you already have a personal heaven and are not succeeding at it somehow. Find the road block.

you could try making an appreciation jar... in which you put all the positive things that you see or know in a jar and take one out and read it, repeatedly until you feel less freaked out about the state of the world... and then refill the jar in some way for any next times...
you could also try making a jar of solutions you come up with on things you can do to help... and could do one once a day or week...
another jar to try could be a notes jar, in which you notate anything you notice about the world around you or understand in your mind... and can take out all the notes when you want to contemplate on more encompassing or complex situations or solutions for your other two jars... (=

oo, paradoxes, yay!! (=
although, perhaps understanding could be better than forgiveness for those kinds of circumstances… i’m not intending to compete with you… or perhaps not intending to compete might be a way that puts “competition” in competition with other concepts that i intend over “competition”… oo, ah… another paradox (= …

Good post. You said people are killed because of their religion skin colour sexual orientation etc.

I would edit that.

Religion kills people because of their religion skin colour and sexual orientation

It’s your choice on what to focus on. You can’t ignore negativity in the world but there’s also positivity and beautiful things to enjoy. You can worry about all the bad stuff and be pessimistic even though it most of it doesn’t affect you directly or you can seek out the beauty and fairness and kindness in life; because there’s lots of that too.

Many good points. The way I see it is that the world is very young, we are still growing out of the illnesses that infect a young society. It is ironic since Hunter gatherer societies away from warring societies tend to be peaceful, yet more modern societies grow more chaotic. In time I expect that humans will indeed let go of their dysfunctional habits and achieve higher states of being. The planet cannot handle the current level of indifference and chaos
