The majority of the general public support common sense changes in policy such as universal background checks and restrictions on purchases of AK style weapons. That would be a good starting point.

I agree that we should, but I know the media will start something saying itās discrimination and people have freedom of speech and other blah blah blah stuff. Then since people blame mostly the MI psychiatrists will come forward saying patients are reluctant to get help or be forthcoming about their illness.
Then thereās gotta be proof. Are people reporting things because they truly feel someone is dangerous or is it defamation of character or retaliation.
The war on drugs has been just a disaster but it employs so many peopleā¦ That is a discussion in itself
Iād feel safer in the United Kingdom where cops donāt have a person-killer strapped to their waist.
Trump is the worst offender. Possibly the worst in the world ever. Heās really got it out for the mentally ill. Itās just plain wrong. Thought the media has done it too from time to time. Iām getting tired of this class warfare. We are all equal in the eyes of God.

There is a private shooting range across the street where I live. There is always automatic weapons going off and blasts from exploding targets. I donāt care for guns and couldnāt own one due to suicidal thoughts. But I do feel safe here knowing my neighbors are armed to the teeth.
You canāt possibly restrict the weapons, too many of them are out there. The criminal element has stockpiles as large as the military probably. Not to mention gun schematics can now be downloaded and 3d printed.
Unfortunately, violence is here to stay.

In the 1920s and 30s people would just dump their kids off at institutions And they never be heard of again.
It was only anti-psychotics that started emptying the institutions in the 50s and early 60s it was only antipsychotics that started emptying the institutions in the 50s and early 60s
I blame the media and movies for always giving press to the axe murders etc in horror movies.
