I was on Depixol. An injection once a month. Now I’ve switched over to 2 mg of Risperidone a day. I find I’ve been eating less. Is this because of med change?

I am on 4mg Risperdal and eat a lot.
Risperdal was my first ap and it was the opposite for me. I was hungry and eating all the time. It sounds like a bonus if your not getting hungry…as long as your eating well and your physical health is good too.
Do you think it’s the med that’s caused the medication change for me? Or do you think it’s a coincidence my appetite’s gone down after med change?
Maybe you’re on a lower dose vs your older med.
Maybe I’m not sure.
It takes time to see full effects but at the moment it sounds promising. Stick with it and keep to healthy eating as well.
How much time does it take to see effects? I was on both Risperidone and Depixol for month. Then now I’ve been on Risperidone alone for like 10 days. It’s since being on it alone my appetite has gone down.
Usually 4-6 weeks is a good time for most. We are all different and it’s hit or miss but it doesn’t sound a bad thing.
No I really need to lose weight. I’ve put on 4 stone since being on meds.
It’s been like a bit over 5 weeks since I’ve been on it so now is the time I’d see the changes I guess.
I’ve read it’s side effects online and a rare side effect is appetite loss. I think most people get appetite gain. Maybe I’m one of the lucky ones.

Why do meds effect everyone in different ways?
Yes I know of someone who lost weight on it. A lot of weight as well. Like to the other end of the healthy bmi range. They might even be underweight I think.
That’s great. I really need to lose like 4 or 5 stone. Did the person you know put on weight with other anti psychotics. Because this is the only one that’s made me eat less and I’ve been on a few.
I’m not sure I can ask them.

How’s your weight loss going?
I do know that the person has an issue with alcohol that their working on. I think sometimes that can cause weight loss. But they actually want to come off the med cos they wanna gain weight so not sure what’s the real cause of the weight loss. I’ll ask them that question though.

It’s been very slow but happening.My calorie intake is not restricted but also not excessive.
