I wasn’t criticizing them at all. I am just glad i recognized most of them as I am just a beginner.
I am doing the yoga as i enter my 50’s in a couple of months and want to remain supple, or get supple rather
Keep up the good work @SkinnyMe

I didn’t take your post as a criticism at all. I realize more than anything that yoga is not competitive and I love it for that.
And thankyou. And you as well. @labratmat
I don’t do yoga but I stretch every day for 5 minutes or try to. I have incorporated the cat/Cow stretch into my routine tho
Yes, I do the inhale/ tuck head into chest and bend the back and then the exhale, face forward and drop belly in the yoga routines I do.
You should try yoga dude. Just add downward dog, kick the leg back and bring it forward to between the arms… Lifting the knee. Throw the arms forward with an inhale and you have a warrior 1 position.
It works those thighs!
Check out yoga with adriene ‘flow’ series of 30 days. it starts off really slow and easy. It is awesome and I was a virtual beginner.
Thanks for the recommendation. Maybe I’ll learn a few more stretches for now I just allot 5 minutes to it lol
Tried out a new pose today which worked my calf a lot and was difficult to hold.
It was like the pic below, but like a superman instead with hands stretched out forward and back leg out straight.
The one in the pic is easier than what I call the superman one. I can do this tadassana one, but I didn’t catch the proper name for the superman one though. Anyone know it?
Now to do the odd practice throughout the days to master it.
I get dizzy spells all the time so I can’t balance well enough for yoga. I even fall of elliptical a sometimes. I just can’t balance anymore
That is so unfortunate.
Yoga is my new go to everyday. I’m loving it.
I get a headrush on a particular move, probably because I am not eating enough though.
Yeah, it’s unfortunate, but I’ve accepted it. I’m done with neurologists and brain scans etc. I’ve decided to not seek treatment for my brain issues anymore
My step brother had a load of scans as he was getting brain fog, dizziness etc. Turns out he has fibromyalgia. It is so hard to pinpoint it… I think they test for everything else and then just say fibro.
I have an autoimmune disease that attacks my brain. It’s not MS which attacks the myelin sheath but rather the brain tissue itself. I get brain lesions from it. I’m sick of neurologists because they said I’m mentally causing my own brain lesions. That’s bullsh*t
Yay, I found it.
It is simply warrior 3 with extended arms.
It is really hard to do. Anyone tried it? You first bring your knee up in front of you, and then slowly bring it back, balancing on one leg with your hands on your chest, then extend leg behind you slowly and then extend arms forward and hold.
It burns the calf.
i get a head rush most mornings in certain postures. it could be a blood pressure issue but really i think it’s generated by the posture being challenging lol
i like this posture but i have been doing ashtanga half primary series and a couple of postures from intermediate for 3 months now and actually don’t really deviate from the same ish set of prescribed postures every day
i find it deeply meditative and reassuring having no questions in my mind what posture to do next or how long for, how to get in and out of them etc
i do need the zoom classes though im useless without a witness / teacher
the only time i could do any self practice to speak of unaided was in hospital for a year
Yes, I can see that. I am only a beginner though, so am just becoming familiar with the poses. In the first 24 days of Flow with Adriene, I noticed that when I listed what I had learnt last night in my head that I have learnt over 20 different postures.
I am impressed with that. Mastering them is the next step though Putting them all together to make a proper session is the goal, which is what you have done.
I have time on my side and am still enjoying it, so think it is something I can continue as a good hobby.
astanga is prescipted set of postures which i just follow
So you have no guide or teacher once you have learnt the set of postures at all? I am far off doing that.
I need a teacher for now. Where did you learn the astanga? Online, live online, in real life?
It’s a very specific practice which is meant to be practised six days a week.
I first learnt it when I was 26 in 630 to 8:30 am classes Half an hour drive away from me… It is worldwide and there are some Practice studios in some of the strangest places… The only time I did it on my own was in hospital… When I was crazy I was able to have that commitment otherwise I absolutely need a teacher… I do five days a week the moment on zoom Monday to Friday 7.00 to 8:30 am The guy who teaches me lives is in Marseille France I’m in UK so the timing is good for me, but people go to his classes the world over….
I’m sure there are other people doing it in other time zones.
I pay about £70 a month for a recurring subscription, there are plenty of lead classes On youtube with varying lengths… And varying difficulty… I am not advanced at all… I’m just starting back… I almost completed primary series in hospital, when I was 30… im 47 now, And have only been back doing it three months
I don’t expect that hold me back too much over the years though, but of course things change over time
Where in the world are you?
i had been doing yoga about 6 months before i started but it progresses through postures that can be done and modified at any level
Sorry for the delay, I had to do my press ups and cold shower.
I am 50 in 2 months and feel I have got started just in time to stave off old age symptoms.
Your classes and school sound very professional. I am impressed. You also get what you pay for and my classes are free, yet for an absolute beginner youtube with Adrien has sufficed for now.
I guess I’ll look for better practices when I had acquired some proficiency.
Thanks for the insight.
