I keep seeing all these “why you should date a teacher”, “Why you should date a woman who drinks whiskey”, “why you should date…” The list goes on and they are pretty much all ridiculous. I’m making my own. Please feel free to add on. This is just me having a laugh, I hope no one takes this the wrong way. I’m sorry in advance if it comes off badly.
Reasons to date a schizophrenic:
You will never, ever be bored again.
If they start acting like they don’t care it might be the meds. The meds do change our personality so just because something is going wrong it might be a flat affect not rejection of you.
Problems communicating can be attributed to this illness. This means that we don’t now automatically not care about your new haircut. We just might not be able to express it.
If they go off their meds you might be redecorating. Sorry about that hideous and tasteless lamp you gave us that you insisted we must keep in the living room or you will cry, Aunt Sally!
“I’m sorry, she (or he) just isn’t feeling well. We can’t come over for Christmas and listen to everyone else preach at us for not going into accounting like my brother.” At least your girlfriend (or boyfriend) will appreciate your love and support when they come around.
Not that long ago this website had people in administrative positions who actually trolled the website for dates!
You jest but there’s actually this group of people out there who take advantage of schizophrenics…I know it’s marginal but you see a website like this and you attract such individuals!
Like I met a normal through the old chat site and got married…it happens more than you think Lol.
The ones who have figured out its just an illness might have advantage of normies… They have insight into mental health and probably a great deal of self control.
Really people shouldn’t be judged by a diagnostic label but how they carry themselves…
At this age in this town I have no real interest in dating a normie. They’re all about doing drugs and drinking. This is a college town 95% percent of people who graduate move away and get good jobs. The fraction that remains try and hold onto the college lifestyle working in bars getting effed up when they can.
In the mean time I might invest in one of those FPV drones that comes with a headset that lets you see through the drone. Making flying them easier and more entertaining. Maybe I’ll meet some people here in town in that way…
It seems like having SZ automatically pushes you into and antisocial asexual lifestyle… It is kind of sad, but allows you to focus on beating the illness. I wish the overall prognosis for such things was more positive. Hope goes a long way.
It aint about being normal its about not being sick…
Can I get an amen. When I wasn’t doing well, and it seemed I needed all the hope and help I could get/… everyone was telling me how hopeless everything was. They didn’t want to get my hopes up… so many tings I never tried because I was told it was hopeless.
Yeah the ultimate things doctors could say is you can get your life back it just takes time… Pills will get you stable, therapy will unlock your ability to function. They could also do better to provide you with a imagine of what reality is like…
Unfortunately they can’t go as far to say there is no god/devil or spirits. Belief in those things is actually acceptable.
All I got from the professionals regarding telepathy…
“So you think were reading your mind? For the record we’re not”
Different pro.
“Well I can’t step inside your mind and see whats up”
Seriously I got more help from talking to regular people.
this is quote i’ll never forget.
“Some people with this illness just talk to themselves, I don’t see what the big deal is, they are just talking to themselves.”
Really its best to seek people out who have gotten a grip on this illness who have also had similar delusions/hallucinations as you have had. They do the best at telling you exactly what you need to hear.
Which is why I am glad for this site and especially @jaynebeal.
I’ll never make a good date anymore. I’m on welfare, take experimental drugs and have E.D. now that Iv’e takin those drugs. but lucky for me I already had two wives, and have four sons already. If they would have diagnosed me as a teenager, I would have never been married. I probably would have never found a date.
you’ll have extra tools to psychoanalyze them with from what comes out in their delusions and psychosis.
you can bypass the line at the DMV, because your lovely schizophrenic will already have an appointment with the SSA people that work there.
you can in fact clear any line when your schizophrenic starts talking back to his/her voices (a trick that can be used even if they aren’t hearing voices at the moment).
you get help sticking to a healthy low sugar diet, because your schizophrenic will be well on his/her way to diabetes with the wonderful antipsychotics he/she is already on.
you’ll get more exercise due to the aforementioned drugs, because you’ll have to carry your schizophrenic beloved everywhere that requires more than a meandering shuffle to get to, i.e. marathons, Iron Man, and American Ninja Warrior competitions.
you’ll also have the immensely trendy pleasure of naturally kinky sex, because you’ll have to tie up your Schizophrenic to calm the tremors caused by their antipsychotics (the old Fifty Shades of TD routine).
This is in jest only. I’m including things that I am guilty of, and will have to do when I’m in a relationship.
I honestly think that some people are somehow into people with mental illnesses. I mean as in they get something out of taking care of someone in that way. I don’t think it is conscious or that they enjoy us getting sick. More like they enjoy helping us dig our way out of our little hole. I think it’s a really complicated thing but I do think it exists.
Because we are the main character of an epic action movie in our own minds, which keeps things exciting.
Because we will listen to every boring work story you feel like telling, as long as it drowns out the voices.
Because you’ll never be one of the people who gets spied on through a hacked webcam, since webcams are either kept covered or not allowed in the house.
Because how else would you discover that dentists actually use Novocaine as an excuse to implant a tracking device in your jaw?!
Because when we have a psychotic break and start stabbing at the walls because bats are living in them, it’s great motivation to start that new home improvement project.
There’s a couple of sides to this discussion. The old chat space here was a wonderful place before all the moderation…that is a no brainer but people who were normal discovered that most schizophrenics who were medicated were pretty good people who had a bit of history!
You get to a certain age and we all have baggage…whether that is mental illness or children, or divorces etc etc!
There’s no problems with looking for partners…even at a website like this one! ■■■■. I’ve done it…didn’t work but I didn’t troll this website looking for my next date…that is the problem! Especially for people who were supposed to be looking after people who suffer…but i’ll get off that ( thanks Chicko…you let down a generation! ).
So there’s this place where normal people can take advantage of people with schizophrenia and I’ve seen that…then there’s two schizophrenics hooking up … From my long experience with this website …there’s not too many of those that survive…
Honestly. There’s other venues…like no longer lonely. Places like ok cupid etc or the normal dating sites have different discourses…shite…it’s a different world but love is a great thing to aspire too…
I’d like to see the old chatspace returned to this website…without all the rubbish admin we dealt with for years…schizophrenic moderators. Schziophrenics…normals welcome but not as love trolls…who knows you might see some schizophrenic success stories…I’m sure there’s a few…but most sane people leave this website after a while!
You’ve got to acknowledge the modern world and meeting online is now a valid forum. Sites like this could help that out if done properly. Just an opinion. You at least may find a friend and I’ve found a few over the years…that’s a win isn’t it?
