While on Zyprexa and risperidone, in the last 4months, I’ve lost

25 pounds (11.33 kg), I think that while it’s not a lot it’s an accomplishment since I’m on those APs.

I meet with a nutritionist to see what I can do differently so I’m not always super hungry.

I eat a cup of berries with protein powder almost every morning, and for dinner I eat lean protein, and veggies almost everyday.

Lunch is a half sandwich and Greek yogurt usually.

I also eat a snack once a day.

I saw him once before and he said I eat very healthy. I just want to tweak it.

I think the diarrhea from zyprexa is keeping my weight down.

Great job CoCo! I’m on Olanzapine too. I think I need to stop taking it, if I want to lose over 100 pounds.

Yeah. I’m eating 1200-1400 calories per day and exercising 5-6 times per week and I’m averaging 1 lb / week weight loss now. Not fast but it is coming off

That’s impressive. I’m on rexulti which is supposed to be better for weight and It’s seems like I might not be able to lose weight with diet alone. I can’t imagine what I would weigh if I was on those two.

11 kilos is a great amount in my opinion. And unless your super strong, a little trick to help realise how much that is, pick up some dumbbell weights. If you’ve got some like 10 kilo dumbbells around, feel how heavy that is in terms of extra fat on a body. Its probably a stupid idea i guess but i got my gf to do that and she was pretty flabbergasted.

Good work by the way! I think weight management is like one of the hardest and most common things to struggle with for people with sz or sza and all that.
Ive lost only a handful more kilos than you have and i look and feel way better. Ive lost my big beer-gut looking belly.
Anyway, i seem to make my comments too long on the forum haha. I feel some on here would probably want me to shut up a bit haha.

Thanks @anon90992146 . I hope to keep losing

Wow what an accomplishment. If you don’t mind me asking I am wondering how much mg of each medicine do you take? I am on the highest dose of invega and keep gaining.

I take 20 mg of orally disintegrating olanzapine, 1 mg of risperidone, and 20 mg of Celexa.

Thank you for replying. This gives me hope. As you are on a high dose of olanzapine and still losing weight by calorie counting and exercising. I am going to start counting my calories again. Thank you again for taking the time to reply.

I mean that’s not really a “diet” that’s choosing a healthy way to eat. It’s all about portion control and eating healthy. Well done. Super proud of you. a lot of people say it’s boring but I don’t. Plus, if you eat well consistently you can have a cheat day, on occasion, guilt free knowing it won’t cause damage.

Yeah, @sweetpotatopie , you’re right. I’m trying to eat healthier, not just restrict calories. And I give myself a little extra calories once per week

That’s wonderful. Do little things to make the food look different or taste different. Change textures, too. Sometimes it’s as simple as cutting your sandwich in weird sections, or throwing the yogurt in the freezer overnight so it’s more like ice cream. Or sprinkling some cinnamon on the yogurt. Things like that. This will help keep your mind from getting bored when you eat similar foods every day. Your mind will be less likely to reject it and want something different. You could experiment with different spice profiles for your protein. So many different spices out there for real!
