Don’t know which is the worst worst but my old pdoc said both were the biggest weight gainers

I don’t know off the top of my head. Didn’t you used to have a link to a chart with all the antipsychotics and their relative side effects? I would think that would come in handy now.

Yea, it says Clozapine and Zyprexa cause the most weight gain among all antipsychotics including typicals. They don’t say which is worse though, both have 3 pluses for weight gain, all other APs are either one or two pluses.

I can’t speak to clozapine because I’ve never tried it but olanzapine is notorious for packing on the pounds, it made hungry all the time, killed my metabolism and caused me to balloon up to 240lbs.

I was on Clozeril and zyprexa for a long time each. Unequivocally, zyprexa was the worst. Clozeril was not bad at all

Thats good to hear, I got prescribed Clozapine a few days ago. I did its EKG heart test and now I will do the blood test. Why did you stop Clozapine?

Zyprexa was godawful. Literally explosive weight gain right out of the gate.

I stopped Clozeril for no real reason but to try risperidone which had just come on the market. I did best on Clozeril.

I am on 6mg risperidone now lol

My Dr prescribed Clozapine bcz she said its better for negative symptoms than risperidone.

For me Clozaril was worst. I was at myy wits end when I switched to zyprexa
which was a lightly more tolerable

I didn’t notice any hunger while on Clozeril.

want to eat all the time

Clozapine is more weight neutral than zyprexa though. According to that article.

Thanks, makes sense, my Dr said Clozapine will cause more weight gain than my Risperdal.

I read somewhere that weight gain happens in APs that block more Serotonin. Its the serotonin receptors that are responsible for weight gain. I think I read it in Wikipedia.
