Does clozapine cause weight gain? I’m on zyprexa. Does clozapine cause less weight problems than zyprexa?

I actually lost weight while i was on clozapine. I went from 298 to about 180 before they took me off the clozapine. Clozapine also didn’t give me the Zyprexa munchies…Zyprexa made me a food monster and i couldn’t stop eating on it. Most pdocs will say clozapine is a weight gainer, tho, as it has that reputation.

How did you lose that much weight? In 5 weeks i went from around 256 to 236 i am mostly fasting tho.

I didn’t have hunger problems for the couple of weeks I was on it. Worked very well for positives.

I put weight on for the first part

About after a year weight was stable then lost a bit

Think it takes more time to adjust than some other meds

I used liraglutide (Saxenda) and a food tracking app to count calories. I stuck to 1200 calories a day and exercised by walking.

Both for me were weight gainers.
But Zyprexa was worse

I gained 80.lbs on Clozapine.

I gained 30kg from my healthy weight from Clozapine and 10kg+ on Olanzapine by itself as an antipsychotic.

For me clozapine was been for more than 3 years the opposite of zypreza , with cloazapine i´ve gained so much weight and feel always braiwashed now im back with zypreza on the past month and a half 5 mg plus 263 mg trevicta , way far much better , more hours a day active, i think cloazapine shoul be only given as ultimate resource.

Idk I kept passing out on it. Took for a week. May work for others.

Are we extra hungry because were stressed out as well?

I got off clozaril last July..
Well in 2 months I literally lost about 50 pounds. It literally just fell off

Unfortunately I needed the medication as I got another episode…

In October of last year I went back on Clozaril. I have put all that weight back on since

So not sure it’s because of stress

Hi everyone. I’m new. I use to be on Zyprexa and I gained too much weight on it. I gained 60lbs in 2 months. I ate too much, especially carbs. I had to get off. Now I’m on clozapine. It’s perfect. It doesn’t make me hungry. I didn’t gain any weight. It really helps psychologically. I finally found the right combination.
