What's this Invega?

I’m surprised pdoc hasn’t prescribed it to me . Pros andcons

Pros, from personal experience are it’s somewhat effective against hallucinations and paranoia, cons are weight gain, sedation, and raised prolactin levels. Also anhedonia from the shot.

The shot made me gain weight like mad, but the pills I managed to be weight-stable on with a half hour of biking a day.

Going to look it up. I guess it’s an atypical AP.

■■■■. It’s very similar to risperdal.

It’s a metabolite of Risperdal, easier on the kidneys though.

It works great on positive symtoms. I agree with the anhedonia I am finding it hard to get any form of enjoyment out of things. However I’ve been currently depressed and put on an anti depressant. Hopefully this helps in a few weeks. But I don’t get any breakthroughs, on other APs I did.

Its got its ups and downs tbh. I didnt have delusions so i cant speak for that but my auditory hallucinations and racing thoughts went away almost completely but ive gained 70lbs in 2 years with the first 60 in the first 6 months. I also dont enjoy or have strong interest in things i onced enjoyed. Plus i started out with a form of depression for the first year. But it definately gets rid of the postives for me for the most part.

It’s the only mead approved for schizoaffective. I take it and it has completely saved me from auditory hallucinations sans a few hours of them every 3 days or so. I haven’t tried the injection yet.

For side effects I’ve had akathisia which actually diminished substantially after 2 months. Was also prescribed propranolol for that, let me tell you, akathesia SUCKS. Have gained maybe 10 pounds on the stuff over 6 months, no huge increase in hunger like risperidine which I was on for a few years.

I did get super depressed on paliperidone and was forced to add lamotrigine back into the mix. For me, the mood stabilization properties of paliperidone were not sufficient.

I take It and i have schizophrenia 9mg pills

shot = anhedonia. At least for me Anhedonia is the worst. It sucks the joy out of life. No depression or enjoyment. You feel like life is on a conveyor belt with little emotion apart from being irritable.

I’m doing pretty good on the shot. I was on the highest dose of 234mg and got it lowered to 156mg and so far I’m doing good. Voices pop up here and there, I don’t hallucinate, I’m not delusional, don’t talk to myself, hygiene is maintained, I have interest in things not as much but still there, I have motivation to do things, I haven’t gained any weight and even the weight I gained I lost most of it, I still have random racing thoughts and shifts in mood but other than that most of my positives are all gone.

As for my negatives I take Wellbutrin and it seems to do the trick. I have really bad insomnia right now that I’m working on nipping in the butt but it’s a slow process to weed through all the medications and dosages so hopefully I can start to get some peaceful sleep soon.

No noticeables side effects when I used to take it, I used to take 9mg max.

I used to take Invega shots, highest dose.It worked well for voices and delusions, but it made me feel numb to the world. I had to smoke a lot of cigarettes to make me feel motivated. Bad experience for me, but you may react differently .

I had to ask my provider if she was willing to change meds for me. Now I am taking a partial agonist.

I’m on Invega Sustenna 234 mg. I don’t have any side effects and am losing weight steadily. I’m also still tapering down off the oral medications so I take 6 mg pills of Invega every day as well. I take Wellbutrin for depression and negative symptoms.
