just thought i’d ask,
what makes you the way you are? against God?
an unbeliever?

I’m not against god. Or the idea of god. I just don’t believe.
Further more, I have serious issues with religion.
Not all of us can think a like daydreamer, it’s not a fault to don’t believe, not a choice either.
I respect your beliefs, can you respect mine?
i think the scientific evidence we have (increasingly with quantum mechanics) shows that the creator God/creatinism is pretty much a myth and that the universe is now proven to have always existed.
So we have basically been left with some kind of entity who probably keeps track of all species (visible to our eyes) and invisible and records how much of sins and goodness each of them have done. That would be an enormous amount of database to keep track of…but considering that it is GOD after all…lets give the thumps up to this thing…but considering that the universe is infinitely existing…such an entity would have to do this job for eternity which would be an enormously boring job to do…something I certainly would never
but that DOES NOT mean that on the death of the body…thats the end of it all…aaaaa…haaaaaaaa…it aint so easy. the deal isnt done yet baby
For me when i was atheist is because i simply dont have faith. The concept of god doesnt make sense to me. The idea of sinning is ridiculous. I do pray sometimes because thats what i grew up doing and it helps me stay centred.
Because I want to get away with all kinds of evil crimes. I want to feel good about all of the theft and murder that I commit
No, I just don’t find the idea of God believable. I follow the golden rule.
what do you guys actually believe in?

In life. In the unknown… I love the unknown, so many possibilities
I don’t believe in anything except myself
I get that you’re trying to understand, but you clearly don’t understand what atheism is. It is just not believing that God exists. It has nothing to do with being against him. Everyone tries to figure out life for themselves, and for some people, the idea of an omnipotent creator doesn’t seem feasible.
I believe in a god, but not in religion. Religion was created by man, and is therefore fallible. But I respect the fact that you follow a religion. You need to start showing respect to those who believe something different than you though. You have made enough of these posts that you should have learned by now. It’s getting a little old now.
I’m a bit odd I think. I believe but I don’t believe. I think that if Jesus was the son of God (if there is one. He could just have been a super nice person and the miracles were just him either being a very smart doctor for the time or greatly exaggerated analogies that everyone takes too seriously) it would explain a lot about God.
My theory is (and the pastor at the church I go to sometimes said other people have this theory) God’s perspective on humans changed after Jesus because Jesus got married and had a family. I firmly believe that if there is a God and Jesus was his son that he got married, had a loving family, and then they all got killed for whatever reason. Because God experienced human love he wants that now with humans (not particularly sexual love but the father/child love) because he liked that. He found a way to move past anger and vengeance when people didn’t do as they were told and started loving instead. I also (for less rational reasons) think the Jews are particularly special to God. I just feel like that’s true. There’s no reasoning behind it.
More importantly I believe in a system. Quantum mechanics (if I understand right) says that things tend towards disorder. I believe that everything is ordered out to the last detail. There is no such thing as chance in the universe. Of course this is the Einstein theory (God doesn’t play dice with the universe) but I think it’s more of a theory than anything that can actually be proven so I call it a belief.
The reason I don’t believe is that I’ve come across too many nut job Christians to want any part of that. I have a hard time believing in anything that can’t be tested and proven. You can prove something is there but it’s almost impossible to prove it isn’t there.

guys i am not having a go at you x
to me you are a god… …
take care
That is too flattering…I accept the good intentions but I am no god of schizophrenia, not yet at least, maybe prince, yeah prince fits. King of my age group=prince. Now Elyn Saks and Fred Frese and Pat Deegan are gods of schizophrenia. The holy trinity lol
I know. You’re just honestly trying to understand, and you don’t mean offense. That’s part of the problem. You type things that are insulting and disrespectful without even trying. Just try to remember that there are valid viewpoints other than your own, and that nobody owes you an explanation for believing something different.
Another way, wouldn’t you get a little offended if one of us made a thread that said, “What makes you a Christian? Don’t you even understand science?”
That would be insulting towards you, even if the poster was just honestly trying to understand why someone would do something as foreign as believe in a god.
i honestly just thought i was asking a simple question, as you all probably know i am Christian schizo person and i just wanted to understand why people believe what they believe, there was no malice intended.
I know. That’s the point, like I just said. You are a great guy, but you can be really insulting sometimes to everyone who isn’t a white, straight, male Christian. I’ve let it go a few times, but this is becoming a pattern for you. You just need to be aware of how things sound to people other than yourself. We all have times when we are unintentionally offensive, and we all need to be called out occasionally.
sorry you feel that way
