I started reading properly when I was 19 and read the Naked and the Dead by Norman Mailer. I’ve read countless great books since. Mario Puzzo the Sicilian makes my top ten. I read mainly fiction.

Anything fantasy, with a strong preference for progression fantasy and every other genre of fantasy with nice power ups, but I’ll try anything as long as I enjoy the worldbuilding.

I do a chronological Bible where you read for 15 minutes a day, usually 4 pages and at the end of the year you’ve read the whole book. It takes 80 hours to read the Bible cover to cover.

I have read the Holy Bible; however, some versus I find are incorrect when compared to today’s factual world. For example, the book of Genesis discusses creation which from my perspective lacks evidence or does not have the support of science and the scientific method.

I also read books about my own religion.

I read novels in Spanish, and other books in English like mysteries and history.

And I get quite a few magazines like: House Beautiful; Cottages and Bungalows; Archaeology; Pianist; The Washington Post and Yoga Journal.

You know it takes people 2-4 years to write a dissertation and to defend it. The dissertation is typically 30-40 pages. Imagine being a lay person with no help from teachers or rabbi’s trying to defend a book that’s 2,000 pages long. Going to church service every Sunday for an hour. It’s no reason that a lot of people can’t really defend religious books or their beliefs.
