Hard to get traction around here but for the readers…and I wasn’t a reader for years on these meds etc but now I do!
So. I’m trying to read one non fiction book and one fiction book everyday. I do minimum of a chapter each and all digital on my kindle. My non fiction books are one read…The Battle of Pea Ridge…it’s a civil war battle in NW Arkansas where i actually walked the battlfield and worth a look although a pretty quick read…
On top of that reading Anthony Beevors book on the battle of Arnhem in WW2.
For fiction I’ve just finished the first 3 books of Fiests Magician series…fantasy which is my achilles heal and just downloaded The Fellowship of the Ring by Tolkien because it’s been a while since I’ve read it…love a revisit to great works…
So…What are you reading? and lets start reading and get thread to 1000!
Eragon was like Teen fiction? I read some really good Teen fiction fantasy series…When it got hard to read with sz I got back into it reading things I liked when younger! Not dissing that at all and thanks for the share!
I’ve confuscius and the anylects recently for like $2 on the kindle and I’ve always got the Lao Tzu on the go. Lets not turn this into prosetylizing. Reading is good no matter how you get there is my point. Religion is cool if you can at least read!
I read Eragon a long time ago, if I remember correctly the author was about 17 when he wrote it. Don’t remember much of the story but I do remember I enjoyed it.
Hahah. I used to read a lot of books when I was like 12. I remember asking for a ride to get the latest Terry Goodkind book several times. The Sword of Truth series.
I do enjoy a good read. Just haven’t gone to the bookstore much anymore. I used to go in there and read when I used my transit card daily. Read a few books, one was of Irish limericks. Pretty good stuff. Hadn’t read a poetry book before. It just got me thinking how people hundreds of years ago knew and used some of those limericks sometimes.
Last book I read was called Redemption by Leon Uris.
I’m glad you got that @Zoe love your work…this month. Get a book and read it. If bible then cool …just bloody well do it!..most books you get second hand are cheap as chips!
Yeah makes sense. I don’t really have any major political view. To me I think more about the economy and stuff like world hunger, third world countries. Basically in my mind the thought I have is, “How is it that there are people in the world today that will die of starvation?” I mean it’s really an international problem not any one country is to blame. Without getting too political, I sincerely feel the U.S. is one of the best countries in the world to live in.
Not arguing there…but what book is leading you to this thinking? Lets get some books your actually reading and share with the community! @schizophrenisaurus what are you reading in the next week! It’s the reading thread!
Lol probably Reader’s Digest. Hmm I saw the best sellers list on our local newspaper a few weeks ago. There was one about a series of short stories about ghosts. Forgot what it was called. Honestly I’m not sure. Book Club Mode activated! What books do you recommend?
I am a sucker for escapism. I love heroic fantasy but you read Tolkien and your continually searching but there’s better stuff out there…try some science fiction. So many good books of short stories that are amazing and you may find you like…Ray Bradbury is amazing. JG Ballard is crazily good! just read!
