What are you reading now?

I started listening to 1984 by George Orwell.

Great book.

I read it in about 1966. At that time, 1984 seemed like it was a long way in the future.

I read this morning the first 25 pages of my book on social psychology. Thought it was interesting.

Was the first time in several months that I’ve actually read in a book.

The most beloved man on earth (original title: ā€œCel mai iubit dintre pămĆ¢nteniā€), a first-person novel about a young philosophy teacher during the communist regime in post-ww2 Romania. He goes into great details about his romantic affairs, including a marriage that produced a baby girl but ended in a divorce, existential and political debates, life in prison, forced labour, corruption and failure of socialist ideals, etc. Great read.

I want to buy some health and medicine books. In my 30s now and i want to persue medicine as an interest. I feel like its related to philosophy. Like i want to apply my philosophical mind to medicine. Seems really cool while still being useful and practical.

I’m reading four books at once right now. (And I am in heaven because of it). They are:

The 5 Second Rule: Transform your life, work, and confidence with everyday courage, by Mel Robbins.

Maybe It’s You: Cut the crap, face your fears, love your life, by Lauren Handel Zander.

Occidental Mythology: The masks of God, by Joseph Campbell.

Becoming The Instrument: Lessons on self mastery from music to life, by Kenny Werner.

Reading the forum. Wish I could get back into reading but I’ve got massive reader’s block. Last thing I read was 1984 though, a year or so back, as a reread when I planned to analyze it and compare with current sociopolitical environments.
