We're Moving

So we just got the notice yesterday that the new, bigger house we applied for is ours as of the 1st. The problem is, we only have until then to move out of this place. And the husband works almost every day this week and next. Once we have boxes, I’ll have to start organizing and packing things on my own, which I am NOT good at.

I’m excited but also terrified. Every other time I’ve had to move, we’ve had plenty of time to do so, but this is different. We have to rush everything, and I don’t have the luxury of taking my time and working at a comfortable pace. I just have to keep telling myself how much better the new house will be, so much more room. And a semi-enclosed porch! We’re gaining a roommate but overall we each get slightly more space. And about double the closet space. I’ll even have room to put in a floor loom to weave my own fabrics, which is something I’ve been wanting to do for years.

So overall this is a good thing. I just need to manage myself as best as I can, so we can get this done in time.

That is awesome! Double closet space

Try to break it down by room. Set aside the things you will absolutely need between now and when you move, and just dump the rest into boxes. Label each box with what room it’s from. Wrap up breakables, and make sure those boxes are packed more tightly.

Every time I’ve moved, it’s been last minute.

Good luck with the packing. I hope the new roommate works out too.

You can get boxes in the morning from grocery stores and wal marts too. That’s pretty much what we did we didn’t even have to buy the boxes. I hope you both get moved in fast and well!

Do you want to hear something deplorable about moving?

I moved to my city now about 8 years ago. I still have boxes in the shed that I packed in my old city and have never opened here.

Since living in this city, I’ve moved three times. And those unopened boxes have come with me everywhere.

I’m bad

Moving can be very stressful. All of my worst episodes happened around the same times I moved/knew I was going to move. I think in psychology moving can actually be classified as a common traumatic event @.@ Make sure to take care of yourself. Awesome that you’re getting a roomier place!

So, the move is underway. We get the key tomorrow, hopefully, and the house is open so we can start moving stuff today. I have my dress form, my mannequin, and most of my fabric moved so far, and as soon as it stops raining I’m going to move a bunch more stuff.

I’m exhausted, sore, and I just want it all to be over. Saturday is when all the big stuff gets moved, hopefully the weather holds out. I have boxes on boxes to take out to the car, and then to the house. At least it’s a really short trip, though that has a drawback in that I have to leave the car running so the battery doesn’t die from all the starts.

I’m starting to see the finish line, it’s still so far away but it’s attainable. Hopefully The Husband will have off tomorrow so he can help. Today he has to sleep until his PT appointment, then right after that he has work, so I’m by myself.

Sounds tiring but also exciting! One good thing when you move is that you can sort through your stuff and get rid of items you no longer need and then organize the remaining stuff just the way you like it in the new place. Good luck with your move!
