Maybe give it more time, it doesn’t work automatically.

Propranolol should kick in within 30 - 60 minutes. It only lasts about three or four hours though, unless she gave you the extended release version.

It worked too well for me. Slowed my heart rate down too much and I didn’t feel safe on it so I discontinued it with the blessing of my pdoc.

Give it more than one try before you make any judgments though.

What’s a prn? I’ve head that word being used alot kinda curious now

ALWAYS TAKE YOUR PROPRONALOL AS DIRECTED. Quitting it suddenly can cause irregular heartbeat, which can be fatal.

It take a while for it to build up in your bloodstream and start working. Give it a month or so before making any decisions. It’s a preventative drug, not an abortive one. It will make your anxiety lessen slowly over time, but won’t stop a current panic attack.

I took propranolol once when my doctor prescribed it.

It made me super dizzy and I began seeing black dots like I was going to pass out,

Didn’t work for me, clearly.

Not every drug is for every person, tell your pdoc and try something new.

It means as needed.

Is this drug for anxiety or high blood pressure?

Both I think but I use it for anxiety

If ur anxiety makes your heart race this stops that. It’s called a beta blocker.

Prn is a med usually like kalonapin or Xanax you take as needed.

It doesn’t feel like anything but it stops adrenaline from having an effect. So if your not stressed you won’t notice it

Do you take it every day do you have to wait for it to build up in your system?

I take propranolol as needed for akathisisa. I can’t say that it has really done much for me. Sometimes it seems to help and other times it doesn’t seem to do anything.

No. I don’t take it everyday. I take it when needed. I take Zoloft now for anxiety. I’ve never taken enough to build up in my system.
