Propranolol for anxiety - wow

I picked up a prescription of prn propranolol. Man it really helps me. I reckon a lot of my anxiety manifests as physical symptoms of anxiety.

I have been prescribed this too Jimbob but haven’t taken it yet. It is supposed to help with my fear and anxiety whilst driving. My legs and hands shake when I drive and my heart beats really really fast.

How long does it take to kick in once you have taken it?

It kicked in after about 30 minutes. I would advise taking a trial dose one day before you drive. In my case it is potent so you don’t want to be dui

Good idea testing it out beforehand. I did read that it can cause you to feel tired - wouldn’t want to be falling asleep at the wheel.

So happy it works for you.

Propranolol is probably the worst Beta Blocker anyone could take for an anxiety or panic disorder.
Take 25mg Atenolol instead.

Any Beta Blocker will help loads with anxiety and panic disorders.
Propranolol is a non-selective drug and can cause unwanted side effects.

I took 32 of them and near died was in a&e resus, a few years ago

Just be careful is all I’m saying

Hey @Jimbob, glad you’re finding the propranolol helpful with anxiety :+1:.

I take 20mg before work every shift and it really slows down the physical symptoms of anxiety, and the mind soon follows.
