Wellbutrin?

I was on Wellbutrin for about a month and it did absolutely nothing, I talked to my GP doctor about it and he let me in on a little secret, apparently it’s well known in the medical community that Wellbutrin doesn’t work! They’re still selling it but it’s absolutely useless.

I think its an NDRI, so it is norepinephrine dopamine reuptake inhibitor.

Exactly. Here’s Dr. John Gray describing this (all good info, and at around 4:40 he gets into how anti-depressants inhibit digestion, thereby reducing the body’s ability to make serotonin – at 5:30 he describes how SSRIs stress the brain cells)

Dr. Mercola suggests things to try that increase digestive health, which is important for our brains (keeping in mind dietary changes might take a week or more to kick in).
Reduce consumption of grains - wheat, white flour, barley, rye, soy, couscous

In the book, Grain Brain, research relates gluten sensitivity to schizophrenia, as well as so many other brain disorders.

Brain inflammation can cause mood problems. Here’s quite a few tips:

Wellbutrin is not an SSRI. Here is a good article describing the different kinds of anti-depressants.

Wellbutrin is a norepinephrine dopamine reuptake inhibitor.

The John Gray video blog I referenced above is still VERY good information about depression and SSRIs. :sunny:

Actually wellbutrin is SNRI.

Yes, you are correct! It’s found in both classifications (my ref: wikipedia and help guide). We’re all going to have Ph. D’s in pharmacology soon! haha Great research!

Perhaps Sarad’s original question applies to any particular kind of Reuptake Inhibitor. Do they all cause brain cell fatigue? I’m not qualified to give a definitive answer, but this forum definitely lets us share/read our experiences so we’re more informed.

Hopefully Dr’s will do their best to address the individual’s particular needs. May we ALL feel better! :sunny:

I’ve been on it ages ago and remember it helped me cut down on my smoking…that’s why I want it now as I really need to either quit or cut down. Asked my doctor about it and he seemed willing to prescribe yet hasn’t yet.
