Yeah. Well people who have been branded Schizophrenic get treated like violent threats to society that need to be locked up and sedated. But when you look at the statistics, this stereotype doesn’t add up at all. Very rarely do mentally ill people commit violent crime. And people with Psychosis are way more likely to be murded then the general population and sane people kill more people overall. I mean look at all the Schizophrenics that get shot and killed by the police. It’s like when a non mentally ill person gets killed by a Schizophrenic, it’s all over the news. But way more often it’s actually the reverse but it’s like no one cares. I guess sane people do not see mentally ill people’s lives as equal to their own.
Wow. That’s terrible.
I’ve been jailed for merely taking psychiatric meds and that is all. I mean that was the charge: being on psychiatric meds while driving. It was one of the worst experiences of my life.
The problem is that most guards and jail personnel don’t believe in psychosis. They usually just think a person is faking to get out of jail or transferred to a better area. The same is true for police; they just don’t believe it.
And no one in society Leadership here - no advocates can break the stigma or change things. So I have to live a lie and fear life cause of my diagnosis - can’t talk about it or get help - feel doomed to some degree
Because they are creating a stereotype of a criminal, when they’re the criminals usually.
