I never understood this gaslighting thing

You know it when you experience it, but I can’t define it other than people trying to convince that what you experienced wasn’t how you experienced it. Its used to make people question reality or themselves and whether they’re the crazy ones.

So basically what every mental health worker has ever said to me in order to prevent me understanding my own life because they think it’s better for me?

That’s what it feels like to me too about some mental health professionals sometimes

Why do you think they’d do that? It also feels like you don’t believe them at all

I cant tell you what is real or imagined with you. We went many rounds about that stuff in the past, but I do want to offer my hope that you are able to feel good and enjoy all the life you have left. Many people here have got and get frustrated with you, but you try and that is to be commended. I feel bad that you are stuck in this vicious cycle of trying and fear and such.

You can be gaslighted even if you are mentally ill or psychotic, but the only gaslighting is in an abstract sense where the doctor only has a theory about you, and it is actualized as the absolute truth. However, nobody can be sure with your co-morbidities of autism and psychotic symptoms what exactly is going on, but it’s safe to conclude I think that it needs to be treated somehow even though you claim the treatment isn’t successful. So if that’s what you mean that you are being fed theories as truth, it is understandable that you are frustrated by your treatment.
