I want to switch from risperidal to a new medicine. I heard risperidone is one of the worst for hunger/weight gain and sexual dysfunction. What are you on that isn’t too horrible for those things? Any input would be great. Thanks!
I take risperdone and it’s true that my libido is very low, I mean I don’t get sexual arouse, only porn makes me going, but thats sad…
As for the weight, I did not gain any since I reach 104 kg I am stable since then

I used to take 15mgs risperidone and I had erectile dysfunction and gain weight.

What do you take now? Is it better
I am trying out abilify. It’s known for having less side effects I hear from my pdoc. Hopefully it’s a good one. Getting off risperidone for it.

Abilify and haldol. I don’t have sexual dysfunction anymore

Unfortunately, it is not a pick and choose matter. It depends on the condition and which drug best suits the case and doesn’t interact with other medications you are already on; you definitely have the choice together with your doctor to decide between suitable drugs that would be equally effective in a particular situation. It isn’t an absolute across the board choice. Wish you wellness.
