It barely touches prolactin levels, so it has a good sexual side effects profile.
I will soon find out, but so far my libido is returning a bit more, this earrly in the game.

today is my second day on vraylar āthe alien named drugā lolā¦ jkā¦
I feel great my anxiety is gone mostly. im still on 12.5 zyprexa at night and im taking vraylar during the day. i am only trying it for 2 weeks and i dont want to stop it
This is good news @HuckFinn - Yeah Vraylar does sound like a good name for an Alienā¦ lol
Hey Wave, Iām glad so far itās working out for you. Keep us updated. My pdoc increased my dosage because I was dealing with a lot and my voices picked up. Youāre experiencing what I experience on it. The want to actually do things, I love that part about vraylar. My pdoc recommended I switch my dose to the morning because I was having trouble sleeping at night because of it, it worked a lot better.
Hi Brea - Im glad to know that you are liking Vraylar so far.
I am not experiencing psychosis or mania/depresson so far on the 1.5mg dose, but I may have to go up to the 3mg dose next, if I start to become symptomatic.
I am having a bit of a hard time sleeping well on Vraylar, but it could also be from the Risperdal withdrawals also.
I average 4 hours sleep - this kind of concerns me, but I need some time to adjust to everything.
I hope that Vraylar works out for you at the increased dose - If you can maybe you can keep us posted on how you are doing with Vraylar.
All the best to you.
I take my dose in the morning, but its kind of sedating for me also - I dont mind it so much so far.
I started melatonin because of sleep issues while on vraylar about a month ago it worked for a while at 5mg then I increased to 10 but I donāt take it all the time.I sleep for 6-8 hours but I wake up about 2-3 times. My pdoc recommend restoril I got the prescription but I havenāt taken it yet because I used to take ambien then trazadone and I got kind of dependant on it. I went cold turkey without sleep meds for a while and I regulated ok for the most partā¦until after a couple months on vraylar my sleep problems started again, I then started melatonin. I still work out pretty regular ( 3 times a week) but not as much as when I first started vraylar so you may taper down some. I even went out on a date (shocked emoji, lol) I havenāt dated since I was diagnosed with schizoaffective about 6 years ago. I feel as though iām making strides. Ill let you guys know if the increase worked.
Thanks Brea - and again, good luck with the increase
This is such good news @Wave!
Whats it like for weight gain?
Like all APs, it has the potential for weight gain, but not as bad as the older Atypicals.
I recently lost an additional 6lbs - but Im also dropping down on my Risperdal dose, and Im walking a lot and eating less.
Its not a big weight gaining drug.
I will continue posting further updates on how I am doing with Vraylar starting in about a month or so (August)
It is way too soon right now, it takes time for this medication to build up in the system.
My psychiatrist wants me to saty on it for at least a month or so anyway.
Hopefully things will work out just fine.
I think this may be why youāre having depersonalizations today- a bit of a quick taper
It was a quick taper, but it had to be this way.
I was having cardiac issues (tachycardia)
Both of the meds were not mixing well together and I was getting sick on top of it.
My pdoc wanted me to taper off of them as soon as possible, as she was concerned.
Yeah man same here with my recent quick taper, Geodon was screwing with my heart big time. It sucks doesnāt it? I was sick as ā ā ā ā like insomnia for days and full blown positive and negative symptoms. Feels good to be stable and even have my heart medication being tapered away. I take it youāre feeling better as well?
I am glad that things worked out for you Mortimer, and yes Iām feeling better with the withdrawals.
Thanks -
yes, this is a nice review. I have found the same things with this new drug.
I did hear itā's $600 at my local pharmacy for a monthās supply, and that itās not on the medicare formulary yet, which is why you have to ask for the samples. Phamacy wouldnāt order it in due to the cost and the lack of coverate. So, the Vraylar, I get the 3 mg samples now.
I also got samples of a drug called saphras for āemergenciesā that seems to be some powerful stuff, really gives me akathesia.
@NiceHat - How are you sleeping?
The one side effect I donāt like about this drug, is the intense insomnia Iām experiencing.
My doctor does not sound concerned, but I am averaging like 3 to 4 hours of sleep at night.
Iām hoping itās a temporary thing.
I experienced insomnia when I was on Abilify as well, especially in the start of taking it - it got a bit better over time.
I have experienced some of that. I tend to sleep during the day, awake all night. Goto bed at 4pm in the afternoon, then up by 1am in the morning. I do only get 3-4 hours of sleep a light unless I take a lorazapam pill.
Do you take Vraylar with food in AM?
If this drug can go on an insurance plan I may ask my pdoc about it
