Vitamins for dummies.. help me out?

So. I’ve never had vitamins before. I know I need them, and I’m desperate because my depression is worse in the winter and I usually end up going psychotic.

I bought some vitamins, haven’t started taking them yet. How does it work? Like, are you supposed to take them in the morning? Or at the same time each day?

The vitamins I got are:

Vitamin C
Vitamin D
Vitamin B12
Omega 3-6-9
Iron
L-theanine

Will these be helpful for my moods? When abouts will I feel a difference? Any advice for me?

(Ex: should I eat food before taking them? Should I take them all at once or split them up a few times a day?)

Thanks

Be careful with iron. That can build up in your body. I wouldn’t take it actually.

The reason why I bought it is I’m anemic, my iron levels are quite low usually.

Have you done this under the supervision of a doctor?

Nope. Should I?

Absolutely. Do you take any prescription medications

Yes, an anti depressant and anti convulsive as a mood stabilizer.

Yeah I would consult with your doctor. Don’t want any drug interactions

I don’t know if your’e male or female

but the only one you need is Vitamin D

especially over the winter, cut everything else.

For the L-theanine

The max dose is 1200mg a day (according to the fda)
The min dose to see any benefit is 200mg (just in my experience)
And don’t take more than 600mg in a 6 hour period.

Personally I take 400mg at 8pm and it helps me sleep better and chills me out.

Vitamin C and cannabis is used in cancer patients

there’s no real prevention though in taking it

it’s pretty much obsolete in a normal person’s body.

Vitamin D is fat soluble, so you need to eat something with fat in it in order to obtain the vitamin D.
So I recommend taking it with food.

yeah, my grandpa ate peanut butter toast every morning with his meds.

I don’t think we should be giving medication advice, seeing as are are not professionals :mouse::mouse2::rat:

This is vitamins though? Not medication? I can go to another forum if it bugs you… but I am in no shape to see my doctor now.

Sometimes I go a few months without seeing him. I can’t call and make appointments so I have to wait until a family member can call for me.

No need to go to a different forum. You are welcome here. I was just giving my opinion :dog2::poodle::tiger2:

Vitamin D3 is known as the “sun vitamin.” Also, you may want to try a “light box” (Amazon sells them).

I second the light box. I’m using mine right now:sunglasses::sunglasses::sunglasses:

Yes, take the iron under the supervision of a doctor.

Those are safe if taken according to label directions or doctor.

Particularly the iron, take the amount your doctor says because the amount needed for anemia is higher than the reccomended daily value, but if you didn’t have anemia, you wouldn’t want to do that as it can become toxic.

Vitamin D can also build up over a period of months but if you’re taking the amount your doctor reccomends, it’s fine.

You can probably also consult a pharmacist on the dosage.
