Does L-theanine act as a mild antidepressant for anyone else?

I cut my L-theanine down to 150mg a day and became a bit “depressed” or sad.

I just took an extra dose now (300mg) and hey presto my mood improved in about an hour.

I wasn’t sure what this drug was, but looking online Google answers to questions around it seem so positive - especially for anxiety.

Why are doc’s not prescribing it if it’s useful?

Big pharma?

Yes, it seems to be a well kept secret.

I take it for anxiety but it seems to elevate my mood also.

I am trying to behave myself with meds now, so I will make a note of this, and make this precise challenge to my doctor.

Pregabalin has been a life saver for me quite literally, but if there is a more natural way to achieve the same end I am interested!

L-theanine not giving any noticeable effects may be a bit more alert to surroundings. Several vitamins and minerals help with depression these include.

Vitamin B1 (thiamine)
Vitamin D
Zinc

Folate preferably methylfolate helps to improve mood in low doses.

Its easy to have deficiencies especially when take medicines and other substances like alcohol, high calorie diet etc. This is especially true for vitamin B1. Vitamin D can low if not get sunshine enough. Zinc also deficiency is common especially if not eat zinc rich foods and takes lot of copper containing foods like nuts, peas etc. For folate some people can have genetic mutation which makes them hard to absorb folate from food. Thus nutrition plays a huge role in reducing depression symptoms.
