Trying some vitamin d

I’ve noticed when the sun is shining, I don’t feel so bad. This is possibly a coincidence though.

But in any case I’m trying some vitamin d 800iu.

If it makes a difference I’ll report back.

800iu did nothing.

I took an extra 800iu now.

So that will be 1600iu today.

I think the max you’re supposed to take is 600iu a day, unless under medical supervision.

If its a supplement I’d take it during the winter months and get some sunshine while its summer.

So just to report that vitamin d has done nothing for me. It was worth a shot..

Sunlight does have a significant positive impact on mental health, but Vitamin D3 is not the same as sunlight:

[While sunlight exposure is a key factor in vitamin D3 production, vitamin D3 itself is not the same as sunlight. Sunlight, specifically UVB radiation, is needed to trigger the conversion of a cholesterol derivative in the skin into vitamin D3. This means your body produces vitamin D3 when exposed to sunlight, but the vitamin itself is a molecule, not the light itself. ]–AI Overview

Also, 4 hours is not enough time for anything to happen, even sunlight. If you get a couple of hours of sunlight everyday for months, you’ll probably feel better. And even in the winter there’s sunlight.

I take 4000/day in the winter and about 2000/day in the summer as I get more sun this time of year. Where it really helps is boosting your immune system. It has been found that your immune system will recognize an infection, but not respond effectively if your Vit D level is too low.

I take 5000IU daily year round mostly for many years now. It does help with mood. I can feel a difference if I go off it.

They sell it in 5000IU, and even 10000IU strenght on iherb. I don’t think the risks are substantial if they do this.

If I remember correct the main concern is hardening of arteries. But no problems for me so far. Also it can be countered with consuming stuff that is good for the arteries.

Me also, tbh, but less so in the summer. I’m going with the dose my doctor recommended, but he’s aware that I am outside for four or five hours or more every day in the warm season.

I’m taking about 2000UI a day. I couldn’t get my hands on d3 lately, so I have to use d2 instead. Don’t know if there’s a huge difference? There’s something about d3 being more effective at raising your levels, but I don’t know the details.

@everhopeful I don’t think vitamin d is something you “feel” right away if I’m not mistaken. It takes time to build up in your body when you start taking it. But I’m not 100% sure on that

It takes several months for vitamin D to build up in our bodies. I wouldn’t expect you to notice anything right away. Keep taking it.

I’m not sure how long it took me to feel the effect, but fairly fast, maybe one or two weeks.

According to google copilot it takes from a few weeks to several months depending on individual factors and dosage.
