this video is full of information i didn’t know. i just knew superficially that schizo folks suffer from cognitive symptoms due to the disease.
My cognition is still good but it was pretty high before my sz. My main problem is negative symptoms.
I had concentration and math tests last week in therapy, I did pretty well, in the average just like normies. Before sz my cognition was better though, I had better grades in school.
I have the fairly typical disharmonic/spiky cognitive profile of someone on the autism spectrum.
It’s hard to separate what has always bee n there due to the developmental disorder, and what began after the emergence of severe mental illness. My crystallised intelligence is significantly better than my fluid intelligence. The latter has improved though with adopting a less defeatist attitude to something I’m not naturally talented at.
The standout cognitive deficit is undoubtedly executive functioning;especially when it comes to organising and planning/doing multistep tasks.
